Every month, Netflix adds new movies worth adding to your watchlist. But while streaming services give on the one hand, they take away on the other, and at the same time many of the best Netflix movies are removed from the streamer’s library every month.
In April 2024, Netflix will say goodbye to one of the most outrageous horror movies of the past five years, but that’s not all. ‘Joker’ is also set to take the stage, but with a sequel coming to theaters later this year, you should see this comic thriller before taking its final bow. It’s also losing several Oscar favorites, “The Unique Playbook” and “Whiplash.”
At least in its place, Netflix has added some great new movies, but be sure to watch these 5 movies before they disappear from Netflix forever (or at least they’re gone for now) Streamers love to recycle their content (Libraries).
“Malignant” (2021)
Malignant is one of the most over-the-top and unforgettable horror films of recent years. Although not particularly scary, “Mulligant” isn’t too worried about giving you nightmares. Instead, it’s a reckless blood extravaganza with a high-concept story hiding a killer twist. Directed by James Wan, creator of The Conjuring series, it eliminates tension in favor of spooky fun, but the quirky comedic elements work well.
“Mulligant” stars Annabelle Wallis as Madison, a young woman who deals with a series of violent visions and a head injury that keeps bleeding. Her paranoia reaches a new level when the murders she keeps seeing in her dreams start happening in real life. To be honest, there’s a little more to Mulligant than the very basic setup above, but this is a movie that’s best enjoyed with as little knowledge as possible. “Joker” (2019)
If my social media feed is any indication, Joker seems to have undergone a bit of a critical reappraisal in recent years. The darkly comic film grossed more than $1 billion at the global box office in 2019 and earned star Joaquin Phoenix a Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Arthur Fleck, a social outcast who adopts the Joker persona. While some people go into this film directed by Todd Phillips claiming it’s overhyped, I still think it’s one of the best superhero films the genre has offered in the past five years. I think it’s one of his.
The real strength of “Joker” is Phoenix’s impressive performance. Fleck is a character who evokes both sympathy and disgust. I’d also argue that Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, and Frances Conroy deserve plenty of praise for their supporting roles, who move the story forward while also figuring out when to step back and let Phoenix shine. Now’s the perfect time to watch or rewatch Joker, as its sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, has released its first trailer and is set to hit theaters later this year. .

“One and only playbook in the world” (2012)
“The World’s Only Playbook” is one of the few movies that I started watching again immediately after finishing it. A real actor movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, and Chris Tucker. It may be a little thin on the plot side, but it’s packed with likable characters, tender emotions, and a pleasant sense of humor. It’s a very captivating movie from beginning to end.
Cooper plays Pat, a teacher who has spent the past few months in a psychiatric hospital to get his bipolar disorder under control. Struggling to come to terms with his recent divorce, Pat’s life is given a new direction when he meets Tiffany (Lawrence), a widow with her own mental health issues. She agrees to be her partner in an upcoming dance competition, and the two grow close and find solace in each other, but their personal demons may ruin this budding romance. There is a gender.

“Step Brothers” (2008)
One of the funniest and most quoted films not only in the 21st century, but in the history of cinema. “Step Brothers” combines the comedic brilliance of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly with Adam McKay behind the camera. With support from Adam Scott, Mary Steenburgen, Richard Jenkins, and Kathryn Hahn, it’s no surprise that “Step Brothers” is a blast. It’s packed with comedy, so no matter how many times you watch it, you’ll always find new jokes and gags that you missed before.
Ferrell and Riley play Brennan and Dale, a 40-year-old lazy couple who still live at home and enjoy monopolizing one parent’s attention. But when Brennan’s mother and Dale’s father marry and the two become stepbrothers, the two very immature individuals must quickly learn to share. The overgrown human and the baby are initially at odds, but eventually find common ground and become friends. But their comfortable life is thrown into disarray when they are given a one-month deadline to find work or find alternative housing.

“Whiplash” (2014)
Whiplash, the shocking drama centered around J.K. Simmons’ outstanding performance, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and is as vibrant and engrossing as ever. Miles Teller plays Andrew Neiman, an ambitious young jazz drummer at the prestigious Schaeffer School of Music. Drafted into the school’s top studio band, Andrew thinks he’s on track to realize his musical potential, but soon finds himself in a battle with the band’s ruthless instructor, Terrence Fletcher (Simmons). You’ll get caught up in it.
Fletcher is determined to push his students to their limits, and he does this by subjecting them to psychological and even physical abuse in order to bring out the best in them. Andrew becomes obsessed with gaining Fletcher’s approval, crossing a dangerous line into the realm of obsession. Directed by Damien Chazelle, “Whiplash” is more tense and exhilarating than many action films, all set in the surprisingly claustrophobic space of the Academy of Music. It’s truly a modern masterpiece.
