X-Men ’97 I’m just killing it right now!
We’ve already talked about how it will end up I asked them to open the Disney+ app again.and me raved about the first two episodes. But now that I’m halfway through the first season, I’m thinking: How can the live-action MCU drama learn anything from this great animated series?
Let me be clear. It was me start like MCU again after a few months I got sick of it and stopped watching live-action MCU shows altogether. secret invasion, because I thought it was terrible. However, I agree 100% X-Men ’97. So here are his five lessons that live-action shows can learn from.
Oh, and if you haven’t caught up yet, there are also spoilers for X-Men ’97.
When it comes to TV shows, they keep people guessing every episode
The live-action MCU show is wandavision Fast forward to 2021. I know a lot of people were completely baffled by the first few episodes; but i really loved them. Do you want to know why? Because I had no idea where the show was going. In fact, it wasn’t until episode 5, when the show started to get “normal”, that my interest started to grow.
Since then, it seems like all the live-action MCU shows are probably gone. loki, it seems quite predictable. Yes, there were a few surprises here and there (e.g. I especially liked that method she hulk It looked like he was urinating. (I took it out of the story structure to make it more whimsical), but I don’t like things to start and not end, so most of the time I only watch live-action MCU shows until the end. It wasn’t because I was super into it.
But it’s not X-Men ’97, because I have no idea where this series is going and I’m loving every moment of it. One minute Storm is losing her powers and the next Jean Gray arrives at the mansion only to find out that the Jean we thought we were dealing with is actually a clone!
Next is episode 5, “Remember It.” it completely devastated the fans Until the end. I’ll tell you if his live-action MCU show can keep people guessing every episode like this: X-Men ’97 That way, we guarantee that people will watch them again week after week. wandavisionand falcon and winter soldier day to day.
Change the intro for each episode
I would like to talk about wandavision Once again, what really got me into that series was how they changed and recreated the intro. TV from different eras. I was excited to see what each new episode would be like and it kept me focused till the end.
X-Men ’97 I’ll do that too!At first it seemed like just Same intro and theme song per episode. But then you start to notice that the intro includes snippets that foreshadow events and characters that may appear later in the episode. For example, in episode 4, “Motendo/Lifedeath – Part 1,” supervillain Mojo actually appeared in the intro, but he only appeared later in the episode.
Mister Sinister also appeared in the intro to Episode 3, “Fire Made Flesh”, and also appeared later in that story. It may seem like a small thing, but every time a new episode comes out, we start to see if we can glean any hints about who we’ll see next in the series, and move on to the next point.
Throw in as many villains as possible
Do you know my favorite Marvel character? knight of the moon But although there were some things I adored about the live-action series, There were some things I actively disliked. Actually I thought so moon night This may have been a turning point for the MCU. But in the end it wasn’t. I want to know the one thing that I think really held the series back: the villains. Because, as much as I love Ethan Hawke, I really thought they dropped the ball with Arthur Harrow.
For example, where was the stained glass Scarlet? Where was the Sun King? Where the hell was Raoul Buschmann (not just hinting at him)? So, sure, Arthur Hallow is definitely one of Moon Knight’s adversaries, but I wouldn’t expect him to be the main antagonist, especially for a character that many first learned about in the Disney+ series.
Moon Knight doesn’t have a lot of villains, but I think it would have been great to get a variety of them. And don’t tell me you have to focus on just one antagonist, because live-action shows have a lot of character arcs. Please take a look X-Men ’97! This new series features one continuous story, but it also features so many X-Men villains.
Live-action MCU shows should do the same. Please tell us the overall storyline. Also add as many villains as possible. It goes back to keeping the viewer guessing. We love to be surprised!
Spend more time building relationships between heroes and villains
Speaking of surprises, seeing the eternal X-Men villain Magneto actually lead the team was a huge deal. X-Men ’97, I think you can do the same with a live-action show. One thing that was really great about the original Netflix daredevil The series was about the relationship between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin.
However, we haven’t seen much of that in the live-action MCU shows. In fact, it’s hard to even remember who these villains are, let alone see the symbiotic relationship between heroes and villains. Villains are actually a big problem in the MCU in general. especially In the TV series.
These shows, where the heroes are directly connected to the villains’ journeys, don’t feature villains like Killmonger or Thanos.they could learn a thing or two from it X-Men ’97 Characters like Morph fear Mister Sinister because of their history together.
This tension is what X-Men ’97 It’s exciting week in and week out, and I really think the live-action drama could benefit from this extra layer of tension if it decided to tie the antagonists more closely to the protagonists’ journey.
Don’t be afraid to kill off important characters in a meaningful way
I would like to look back one last time. secret invasion, that really got me interested in live-action MCU shows. What really bothered me was the death of Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders. Even though she’s been in the MCU for quite some time, she hasn’t had any particular attachment to her character, but that’s about it.I had There is no real attachment to her character. Still, you get the sense that her death was supposed to be a shock to her gut, when in fact it wasn’t.
It almost seemed like a throwaway death, and it was pretty cheap to do so so early in the series (episode 1!). But do you want to know what really hurt?when gambit died X-Men ’97.Well, maybe Gambit isn’t. actually It died (or rather, I hope it didn’t), but my wife was in tears. And I was definitely upset after that happened.
The way Rogue delivers the line “I can’t feel you” over his seemingly lifeless body does just that. It was also the other X-Men’s reactions to all the destruction they witnessed on TV that really drove home the destruction and loss.
Sure, characters could be killed off in a live-action MCU drama, but if they’re going to do it, they need to make sure it’s important. Otherwise, it feels like a cheap way to make us cry, and it probably won’t work.
What do you think?do you love me too X-Men ’97Also, do you think live-action shows could learn something from it? For all things Marvel news, be sure to visit here often.?
