Last December, Marvel Studios echo Under the new “Marvel Spotlight” banner, “It’s a platform to bring more down-to-earth, character-driven stories to the big screen, and in the case of ‘Echo,’ it focuses on street-level stakes rather than the larger MCU continuity.”
It is unclear whether these shows will be classified as TV-MA and separated from the MCU as a whole. Wonder Man With plans to have both under the same banner, it seems more likely that it will be a combination of both, which would allow Marvel Studios to tell a wider range of stories and comes at a good time given the current talk of “superhero fatigue.”
But with Kevin Feige and company also leaning towards streaming, they’ll have to be more careful than ever when deciding which projects to take in this vein. Below, we’ve picked seven characters who would either benefit from a darker tone or be spared from participating in the next big crossover. And in some cases, they fit into both categories!
You can find out who we picked for our potential TV show “Marvel Spotlight” by clicking the “Next” https://comicbookmovie.com/ “See the List” button below.
7. The Punisher

Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle for the Netflix series. Daredevil: Born Again and Punisher Though the series received mixed reviews, there are still plenty of stories to be told through him (especially in the MCU).
It wouldn’t make sense to throw Frank into the Avengers — and, of course, he might eventually cross paths with Spider-Man and the Thunderbolts — but the character has always been at his best as a lone wolf operating on the fringes of the Marvel Universe.
Ideally suited to the TV-MA rating, Marvel Studios can ditch Marvel TV’s convoluted origin stories and delve into the anti-hero’s mission and the moral complexities surrounding it.
Along the way, we finally get to explore a rogues gallery beyond Jigsaw, while also exploring corners of the world that superheroes dare not tread. Sure, Captain America and Thor can fight an alien invasion, but who can deal with drug dealers and crime lords? After all, they Punished Too much…
6. Squirrel Girl

Werewolf of the Night Now that we’ve proven that the MCU can get weird, why not shine the spotlight on a superhero quite unlike anyone else: Doreen Greene?
Squirrel Girl is a teenager who has taken it upon herself to save the world from rude villains, along with her fellow squirrels Monkey Joe and Tippy Toe. They never give up, and therefore never run away from a fight. In fact, when Squirrel Girl is in trouble, she calls on the squirrels and an army of bushy tails come to her aid.
The character likely won’t find success in a major film franchise, but that doesn’t mean the small-town superhero can’t still shine.
The series probably won’t get a TV-MA rating, but it would benefit greatly from being a standalone, much like the “Special Presentations” and “Marvel Spotlight” series. Sure, it could hang out with fellow heroes if it wanted, but in the meantime, Marvel could tell a fun standalone origin story and deliver a show that’s equally as quirky. and It’s memorable.
5. Nova

Guardians of the Galaxy Director James Gunn wasn’t particularly interested in Nova, so the character was sidelined. Avengers: Infinity War It either sets the stage perfectly for his debut or closes the door on him, but the Marvel spotlight might be the way to go.
One possibility is that it will tell Nova’s story, ending with his death at the hands of Thanos after his attack on Xandar. As the Mad Titan leaves the planet, it could show Richard Rider’s helmet traveling into space to find a new host, potentially hinting that Sam Alexander could follow in his footsteps… one day.
Alternatively, they could keep him in the current MCU but keep his adventures entirely separate from Earth and the Guardians, which would open the door for Marvel Studios to add Nova to the fold whenever they decide to continue with Star-Lord and his team.
Either way, Marvel Studios something As for this character, I think the “Marvel Spotlight” series would be a good start to adding more of this hero.
4. Kazar and the Demon Woman Shana

The Savage Lands continues to be a great place for a variety of stories to emerge, and what better way to introduce fans to it than by introducing them to Ka-Zar and Shanna the Sea Devil?
Some may cringe at the prospect of following the adventures of Marvel’s “knockoff” Tarzan and his scantily clad partner, but both characters are more complicated than they appear on the surface: They both lived in civilized societies before coming to the Savage Land, where they befriended intelligent mutant sabre-toothed tigers and also had to deal with dinosaurs.
Projects like this, whether they focus on family or TV-MA’s brutal fight for survival, have great potential and offer audiences a chance to explore a new side of the MCU.
The Savage Land may be revisited by many franchises (Wolverine and The Avengers have also spent significant time there), but Ka-Zar and Shanna the She-Devil could do their own thing and introduce us to a whole new culture in the process.
3. Ghost Rider

For now, we’re guessing Ghost Rider won’t be getting a movie, as the two films starring Nicolas Cage were not particularly well-received, either critically or commercially. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Demonstrated a spirit of revenge can Work in television.
Marvel Studios would be wise to reimagine Johnny Blaze and keep the character faithful to the comics for a TV-MA series, openly showcasing all the horror and weirdness of the skull-burning, motorbike-riding superhero, while still allowing the supernatural aspects of the MCU to continue to be explored and further explored.
Mephisto is scheduled to appear Iron Heartthere are ways for this potential “Marvel Spotlight” series to tie into the broader MCU, but at the same time, it could also remain its own thing.
Werewolf of the Night It showed that there was an untapped genre of superhero storyline for Marvel Studios to explore. Ghost Rider It’s a great choice to kick open that door and start exploring new aspects of this shared world (even though it’s R-rated). blade…If that happens.
2. Deathlock

If you’re not a huge comic book fan or have never watched Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., you might not know much about Deathlok. Deathlok is a cyborg, a hybrid of man and machine… and an unstoppable killing machine.
The original Deathlok, Luther Manning, is a soldier in a dystopian future who is mortally wounded and later resurrected as a cyborg. His body is enhanced with advanced cybernetic components and he struggles against his programming and the loss of his human identity.
Other recent actors who’ve played the role include Michael Collins, a pacifist scientist who is turned into a cyborg against his will, and Henry Hayes, a doctor who is unwittingly transformed into a sleeper agent — either of whom would be a good fit for a story that ramps up the body horror elements and embraces extreme R-rated gore and violence.
It’s hard to imagine Deathlok fitting into the broader MCU, so going the standalone route is definitely the right route for the character.
1. The Legendary Star-Lord

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 The film ends with Rocket forming a new team of superheroes and Peter Quill returning to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather and come to terms with who he is as a human.
Marvel Studios has confirmed that the legendary Star-Lord will finally return and take on the role of the next the avengers A movie adaptation is likely, but until then, it’ll be fun to see the hero embark on a solo adventure on Earth, facing off against unexpected foes and leaning into some R-rated humor.
when WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier When it first started, it felt like an event; it’s lost that feeling over the last few years, but giving Star-Lord the spotlight in a standalone series (that establishes him as a hero on his home planet) feels like a step in the right direction.
Honestly, it’s a shame James Gunn hasn’t directed it yet. PeacemakerThe tone would be perfect.
