All things considered, 2024 is proving to be a pretty satisfying year when it comes to great TV shows. From new shows like Max to returning shows, House of the DragonApple TV+’s hotly anticipated new sci-fi drama Dark matterand Prime Video’s ultra-addictive new spy series Mr. and Mrs. Smith — There’s already plenty of content for streaming audiences to binge, and we’re only just halfway through the year.
There are plenty of new big TV shows still due to arrive across the streaming world between now and December, whether it’s Apple, Netflix, Peacock, or anywhere else. Here are nine titles in particular we can’t wait to see:
Sunny (Apple TV+, July 10)
This dark comedy is based on the novel by Colin O’Sullivan. Dark Manual In Katie Robbins’s film, Rashida Jones, a Kyoto woman, gives her husband a robot named Sunny after his mysterious death. Apple has had great success with sci-fi films, but what makes Sunny even more intriguing is that he appears to be a grown-up version of the robot. Big Hero 6. Yes, please!

According to Netflix, ” Vikings: ValhallaIn Jeb Stuart’s sword-fighting historical novel series, The Golden Kingdom, three adventurers embark on a quest for gold and the glory of the gods. Legendary explorer Leif Ericson (Sam Corlett), his spirit warrior sister Freydis, and muscle-bound Norwegian prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Sutter) traverse continents and leave a trail of legendary battles.
Cobra Kai: Season 6 (Netflix, July 18)
The sixth and final season of this one of Netflix’s longest running TV shows begins with Cobra Kai being eliminated from the Valley and the sensei and students deciding if and how to compete in the karate championship known as the World Championship. Notably, Cobra Kai founder John Kreese is a wild card as he has faked his death and escaped from prison. Expect non-stop action, emotion and unforgettable drama in the upcoming season.
Peacock’s 10-episode Gladiator TV show, also written by Robert Rodat. Saving Private Ryanis an adaptation of Daniel Mannix’s 1958 novel (which also inspired Ridley Scott’s 2000 film) that’s packed with everything from sex and political intrigue to chariot races, warrior and lion fights, and bloody gladiator battles. Gladiator).
The Peacock Show is set in Rome around 79 AD, at a time when chariot races and gladiator fights were one of the main ways that united the Roman population. The characters are from all walks of life across Rome, all at the fierce intersection of politics and sport.
The series is one of Hulu’s most talked-about and star-studded original TV shows. When we last saw the amateur sleuths who inhabit the titular “building,” Hollywood producers wanted to turn the events covered in their podcast into a movie. So, everyone assumed they’d be heading straight to Los Angeles… but something brings them back to Arconia. You’d never guess what it is! Yes, a murder. How did we know?
Season 2, Prime Video’s biggest series to date, takes us to Middle-earth, specifically JRR Tolkien’s Second Age, where Sauron continues his rise to power.
On a cinematic scale, the new season of Prime Video’s TV adaptation of Tolkien’s classic novel will also showcase the creation of more rings that Sauron intends to use to control the people of Middle-earth. As darkness spreads, the heroes we met in Season 1 are faced with the challenge of finding their place in a world on the brink of oblivion.
Yellowstone: Season 5 (Paramount Network, Nov. 10)
Despite some behind-the-scenes drama in later seasons, Paramount Yellowstone“The Final Season,” one of cable television’s biggest success stories in recent history, will be coming to an end without star Kevin Costner.
It regularly ranks as one of the most-watched shows on cable TV, draws millions of viewers, and has become a pop culture staple — so popular, in fact, that it spawned a spinoff show on Paramount+. 1883 and 1923The show has a hugely devoted fanbase online and has significantly boosted tourism to Montana, where Yellowstone is set.
“Yellowstone,” according to Paramount’s description, “tells the story of the Dutton family, who manage America’s largest contiguous ranch. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, unhealed wounds and hard-earned respect, the ranch is constantly at odds with its neighbors: a growing town, an Indian reservation and America’s first national park.”
Set right after the events of Matt Reeves Batman Like the film, the eight-episode Max crime drama clearly focuses on Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot, aka The Penguin. The Max series follows his rise through the ranks of Gotham’s underworld and also stars the always-great Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, daughter of Gotham crime boss Carmine Falcone. Notably, Falcone in this series is also the father of Catwoman Selina Kyle, played by Zoe Kravitz.
Night Agent: Season 2 (Netflix, coming soon)
Finally, this list of upcoming TV shows wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the thrilling sophomore season of Netflix’s The Hunger Games. Night Agent Directed by Shawn Ryan, this action-packed thriller is based on a book by Matthew Quirk and is so good it’s the sixth most-watched Netflix show of all time. Gabriel Basso stars as FBI Agent Peter Sutherland, who was assigned to the night shift at the White House last season before foiling a major terrorist plot. This resulted in Sutherland receiving a major promotion, which probably means even bigger stakes and dangers lie ahead.
