(KRON) – The Vacaville Police Department (VVPD) announced Monday that a Vacaville woman was arrested on suspicion of stabbing an office worker. The victim was stabbed in her arm, but is expected to survive.
The stabbing happened at a store in the 500 block of Main Street just before 6 p.m. A police investigation revealed that the incident occurred after an argument between the suspect and the victim.
Police said the suspect, later identified as Makeda Cairo, 33, was seen leaving the store with a container of chips. An argument then ensued, leading to the stabbing.
Witnesses told police that Cairo fled the scene after the stabbing. A witness followed the suspect, provided police with his location, and he was arrested.
Police said a “Cairo-related” car was parked near the store where the stabbing occurred. There were three children inside, ages 16, 3, and 1.
“VVPD officers are partnering with Solano County Child Welfare Services to ensure the safety and well-being of the children,” police said.
Cairo was jailed on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and robbery. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call (707) 469-4801.
