This is the moment a stunned cyclist was thanked by Bill Nighy after a Hollywood star stopped at a red light while crossing the road.
The rider, who uses CycleGaz online, was stopped at a traffic light outside the Queen Mother Sports Center in Westminster, central London, yesterday.
The video, which has already been praised for its wholesomeness on social media, shows Academy Award winner Nye crossing an intersection while wearing a long brown coat and carrying a briefcase.
The Love Actually star, who lives in Pimlico, appeared to be in good spirits on the sunny day and later raised his hand to thank the cyclist for not running a red light, saying: “Thank you, thank you.”
Gaz jokingly replied, “I just wanted a day off.”
Nye said before replying, “Well, that’s what I thought when I saw you stop.”
Gaz, not yet realizing who he had just talked to, started walking when the light turned green and said with a smile, “Have a nice day.”
The rider was traveling along Vauxhall Bridge Road when he came to a set of traffic lights and slammed on his brakes.
When he came to a complete stop at a traffic light, a woman walking with a cane crossed, patiently waiting for another cyclist and several pedestrians to cross the road.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel actor then appears and waves to the riders.
Gaz shared a video of the pair’s interaction on social media, where it has now racked up hundreds of likes, with users praising the pair for their kindness towards each other.
One user said: “I was just shocked when a cyclist stopped at a red light.”
Another added: “Finally fame.” I’ll save this for all the drivers who say cyclists don’t stop at red lights.
A third wrote: “It’s always nice to see an actor you admire become the man you always thought he was.”
Another person replied: “What wonderful people* you both are.” A fifth person commented, “I’ve met him a few times and he’s a really nice person.”
Mr Nye, who has had an illustrious career in stage, television and film, winning a BAFTA and a Golden Globe Award, is believed to be in London.
The 74-year-old, who was born in Caterham, Surrey, reportedly lives in London’s Pimlico, an upmarket area in south-west London, close to Westminster and Chelsea.
