jakarta. The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has implicated businessman Harvey Moyes in a corruption case related to the licensing of state-run tin mining company Tima to trade in tin products. denied the allegations involved.
Ketut Sumedana, director of the AGO’s Legal Information Center, dismissed such allegations as mere speculation.
When asked for comment on Monday, Ketut said: “It’s just a rumor.”
Ketut further revealed that so far no female celebrity with the initial “A” has been identified in the case.
He also said hundreds of witnesses were being interviewed in connection with the case.
“We interviewed 173 witnesses,” he acknowledged. Harvey’s wife, actress Sandra Dewi, was among the witnesses.
Harvey Moyes is suspected of being an intermediary facilitating illegal mining operations in areas owned by state-owned tin mining company Tima. Other suspects include socialite and businesswoman Helena Lim, as well as three former Tima directors. The scandal could result in national losses worth 271 trillion rupiah ($17 billion) in environmental damage as a result of illegal mining activities.
Earlier, Indonesia’s Audit and Supervisory Director-General Iskandar Sitrus mentioned the involvement of a woman with the initial “A” in the Tima corruption scandal.
According to Iskandar, the woman comes from a wealthy family. “She is married into a wealthy family and she is considered a celebrity,” he revealed.
Mr Iskandar provided clues that the man had previously officiated at a private jet handover event from Harvey Moyes to his two-year-old son. “For example, it is common for him to hand over a jet to a child during a celebration.
