If you’re looking for a GPU at the moment, you’re certainly in luck. AMD RX 7900 XT and GRE, and Radeon RX 7700 XT are currently available at great prices. However, you may also be looking for a complete system upgrade, and AMD has you covered here as well. That’s because the Ryzen 16-core 5950X and 12-core 5900X are also attractively priced. The latter has reached its lowest price ever (Purchase link below).
The AMD Ryzen 5900X is a 12-core processor that can be used as a great new CPU to build your system with, or as a great upgrade to your existing 6- or 8-core Ryzen. Of course, you’ll have to be careful with the motherboard you own, but generally most of the VRM (Voltage Regulator Module) sections on motherboards that cost $100 or more should be able to handle the 12 cores of the 5900X. At $262, the Ryzen 5900X is currently the lowest price we’ve seen, making it a must-buy.
However, its sibling, the Ryzen 9 5950X, isn’t the cheapest offering at the moment. If you’re looking for more performance than the 5900X can offer, the four additional cores will certainly help. However, additional cores mean more power required, so ideally you’ll want a motherboard that costs at least $130 to $150.
