According to Apple, Apple will likely skip the M3 version of the Mac mini and make a bigger update with an M4 chip towards the end of the year. bloombergI’m Mark Garman.
Garman explained in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter that he doesn’t expect Apple to include the M3 chip in the Mac mini. Apple last updated Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro chips in January 2023. Other new features include two additional Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.1 ports for M2 Pro configurations, Wi-Fi 6E support with compatible routers, and Bluetooth 5.3.
Garman previously said that Apple plans to release new Mac mini models with the M4 and M4 Pro chips “sometime between late 2024 and early 2025.” Now, he has made it clear that there won’t be enough room for him to launch an M3 model by then, as the new Mac mini will arrive at the end of the year as well, so these Mac desktops will skip his M3 generation. It would be no exaggeration to say that. . ”
Such a move isn’t unprecedented, since the iMac skipped the “M2” chip entirely and was delayed until late last year when the M3 chip was expected to deliver bigger performance gains. Mac mini with the M4 chip series offers significantly improved CPU performance compared to existing models with the M2 series. The M4 chip is also rumored to have a faster neural engine for artificial intelligence tasks.
