SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Apple plans to invest more than $250 million to expand its regional campus or operations in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore, according to a company statement dated April 17.
Two buildings acquired in 2022 located across from Apple’s existing offices will undergo extensive renovations, the US technology giant said.
“Singapore is a truly unique place, and we’re proud of the connections we’ve made with this dynamic community of creators, learners, and dreamers,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. Ta.
Apple opened its first facility in Singapore in 1981, with 72 employees focused on the Apple II, an early personal computer.
Since then, the city-state has grown to more than 3,600 employees and serves as Apple’s operations center for the region.
Cook will also meet with Singapore’s Prime Minister-designate Lawrence Wong and the city-state’s current leaders. Lee Hsien Loong Bloomberg News reported this Wednesday as part of his trip to Southeast Asia, citing people familiar with the matter.
