- Amazon listed Apple’s FineWoven iPhone 15 case as a “frequently returned item.”
- The tech giant flagged the incident and warned customers to read reviews (many of which are one star).
- Reviewers complained about the quality and durability of the case as a reason for their return.
Apple’s FineWoven iPhone 15 case has been buzzing around the internet for questionable quality, with some customers asking for refunds.
As of March 1st, Amazon labeled Apple’s FineWoven Case as a “Frequently Returned Product.”
The warning advises users to “review product details and customer reviews” to learn more about the $59 incident. The e-commerce giant’s product listings say this reflects how dissatisfied some customers are.
Customer reviews for this product seem to be divided. According to the list, 45% of 628 reviewers gave this product his 5 stars, and 32% of them rated it 1 out of 5 stars.
Those who left one-star reviews and mentioned returns complained about the quality and durability of the case.
“I didn’t like it at all,” one customer wrote in a review titled “Disappointing.” “The material is very bad. The color also doesn’t match the photo.”
Another reviewer wrote, “I’m not sure the quality is worth the price.” “It’s really cheap and scratches easily. It gets dirty easily.”
One reviewer returned the case after two days of use and said he would not purchase another Apple case until the company returned the leather case.
Amazon did not respond to Business Insider’s request for comment on how the site decides when to mark items as “frequently returned items.”
The online retail giant introduced return tags in March 2023 to encourage customers to research products before purchasing, The Information reported. According to The Information, the warning appeared on products such as the Pro-Ject Automat A1 record player and some dresses, but it does not appear on Amazon’s product listings.
Apple did not respond to BI’s request for comment on whether it would improve its products to address customer concerns.
Users of FineWoven cases aren’t the only ones complaining about products from online retail sites. Since Apple’s latest iPhone cases went on sale last September, users have taken to social media to share their opinions.
In a recent opinion poll X, formerly on Twitter, nearly half of 3,324 voters voted that iPhone cases are “junk.” Only 17.9% said the case was “holding up well.”
In response to the survey, users added their own two cents. “This is the worst product Apple has ever released,” they wrote, along with a photo of the damaged case, saying it felt like it had been “dragged through the jungle.”
After using the case for five months, technology critic Joanna Stern wrote in the Wall Street Journal that she was “waiting for the CDC to come to my house and declare this a biomedical concern.” I wrote about it in my newsletter “Tech Things.”
