Celebrity makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes has revealed a unique makeup hack that will completely change the way you apply lipstick.
Hughes, who has shown off her makeup artistry on A-list celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Ashley Graham and Karlie Kloss, shared a tutorial on TikTok this week.
She often takes to her social media platforms to share various makeup and beauty tips and tricks with her followers.
This video shows you techniques to make your lipstick look even more beautiful than before.
“This morning I’m going to show you some crazy lipstick application hacks,” Hughes begins the video.
“I’m not going to put lipstick on that part of the bullet,” she explained, tilting the lipstick tip to the side.
She explained that applying lipstick this way “makes your actual lip line less visible.”
“But if you flip the bullet over, everything looks a little better at that angle,” the makeup artist continued.
She turned the lipstick so that the back of the bullet was facing her lips.
I used the back side of the lipstick to apply color to the left side of my upper lip.
This technique allowed her to do it in a very controlled and precise manner.
To show the comparison, she also applied lipstick to the right side of her upper lip using traditional lipstick application methods.
“For me, this feels more fiddly and it’s easier to go higher on the outside of the lip line, but you have more control when you do this,” she explained.
Next, apply mauve color to your lower lip.
“And the bottom lip, to be honest, it’s the same thing,” Hughes continued, applying lipstick in the color Whirl from a brand called MAC Cosmetics to her bottom lip.
“Go where the lip opens first, not the lip line. After that, it’s similar, but using the bullet tip is more effective.”
What about the finished product?
Perfectly beautiful and evenly applied lips.
“Tell me what it’s like, with some humor, or tell me what you think,” Hughes concluded.
In the comments section, many people seemed impressed by this hack or had already done it themselves.
“I totally agree, but still, I just can’t do it, I just can’t. You’re 100% right,” one person wrote.
Another agreed: “I’ll try this!” Just yesterday I did this to get outside of my lip line. ”
“That’s how I’ve always done it…I didn’t know other people did it differently,” someone else typed.
One user chimed in, admitting, “I literally do this all the time!!” I’ve been called a crazy person for that before (lol).”
