Ariana Grande revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, June 6, that Penn Badgley is the one who is singing the song for her next single, “That boy is mine‘ is set to premiere on Friday, June 7th.
“The video stars Penn Badgley, who I’ve been a fan of for my whole life,” she enthused to host Jimmy Fallon. “It was so amazing working with him. I’m a huge fan of his. It was so much fun.”
In addition to Penn Badgley, known for his roles in “Gossip Girl” and “You,” Ariana Grande also hinted at other surprise guests appearing in the music video.
Grande was speaking about the making of her latest album, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” which topped the Billboard 200 albums chart in March.
“Thank you, next‘ had originally planned to release new music after the Thanksgiving release of their new movie, Wicked, this year, but an unexpected break during last summer’s SAG-AFTRA strike meant they were able to record the album sooner than expected.
“When the strike happened, I went home of course to see my family: my grandma, my dad, my family,” she said. “Then I booked the studio for a week and asked the amazing Max Martin to come with me. We were in the studio for this week, just the two of us, and by the end of that week we had finished the five songs that are on this album.”
