LOS ANGELES — More than a dozen people were injured Saturday night in an accident involving a streetcar at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles.

According to KTLA, the accident occurred just after 9 p.m. PT. The accident involved a studio tour tram.
According to CNN, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said about 15 people were taken to hospitals with injuries. At least one person was seriously injured, but most had minor injuries, KTLA said.
According to CNN, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the streetcar driver said there was a mechanical failure and one vehicle crashed into the rails. Several people riding on the tram reportedly fell.
“The Los Angeles County Fire Department has confirmed that there was a tram accident at our theme park tonight, resulting in multiple minor injuries. We are working to support our guests and understand the circumstances that led to the accident.” a spokesperson told KNBC.
Information regarding the cause of the accident has not been released. The California Highway Patrol will take over the investigation, according to the Associated Press.
