Bad guy on holiday You can really do a lot. Just for the record, I don’t talk about it much, but previewing this season’s best episodes is something of a lost art in anime, with many shows abandoning them entirely. Masu. One thing I noticed about the top 10 “niche” list I published earlier is that the series included in that list fall within a very narrow range in terms of his MAL scores, with most of them around his low 7s. That’s what it is.and Villain’s Holiday It’s 7:15 like clockwork. I think that reflects how easy it is for these types of shows to be taken for granted. And perhaps they’re not trying to reach a wide audience (which may be the secret to their appeal).
I really like how this show dispenses with traditional narrative structure and just goes with it. The dream sequences are fascinating, sometimes comically absurd (such as a panda wiping a pattern on a towel), but they also reveal the general’s true nature. After that brief towel vignette, there’s an announcement that Ueno Zoo will be returning the pandas to China, which I think sows the seeds for future intrigue. That may or may not have connected to Mr. Warumono’s dream in the final corner, but I’ll explain that in a moment.
Next up is a fascinating corner featuring Rooney, the longest corner to date. Oranges are the most important thing here, and there are a lot of them.Rooney and the General sit at a kotatsu and participate in a mandarin carving contest – it’s hard to imagine anything better. holiday than that. Crazy skills are on display here, culminating in a mini-kotatsu and a mini-human (who appear to be hugging or fisting a mandarin orange). The RL sequences here can be as surreal as dream sequences.
This week was definitely a return to Episode 3, which also featured Rooney’s infatuation with the kotatsu and a visit from Santa. However, there’s no evidence that it was actually Christmas time outside of the dream (although it’s certainly winter), so I don’t think we can officially call this a Christmas episode. Santa is back in Mr. Badass’s dreams, but this time it’s clear why – the General is obsessed with the concept of human Christmas presents, and doesn’t know what he’ll get from Looney as part of the gift exchange he’s proposed. I’m obsessed with that. Once again, we hit something deeper with the bad guy’s question of whether people give gifts to make themselves happy and Santa’s refusal to deny it, but this series doesn’t bother with such things. It won’t bother you.
That’s definitely teeth This time it’s real Christmas. We visit the Ranger family (I don’t think any of them live with an actual family. We get a close look at Black for the first time (Yuichiro Umehara), and he appears to be the de facto patriarch of the group. He buys presents for everyone, not just the little ones. Back at headquarters, Rooney and the General have proven that great minds think alike and each is on an obvious path (mikan). This will piss off the trigger, but it’s clear that it doesn’t take much effort.
Finally, this is a dream where you can truly understand how a bad guy’s mind works. My favorite moment was when I said “delicious”, which emphasized the deliciousness of the meat bun itself, and this was golden. This was a course that explored all the general’s obsessions with animals and snack foods, with bears being the main focus (though of course red pandas aren’t bears). Everything is building towards the reveal of the final boss to showcase the cat’s charm.I think this is one of his examples of that Bad guy on holiday – and most of the series that share that sensibility and niche will either work for you or not. I can’t explain why that climactic moment was so great – you know who you are.
