Now, here we go! We’re so used to ever-shifting calendars and slow-paced release weeks that this weekend’s deluge of movies and TV shows feels strange. It’s welcome, of course, but it’s also strange and overwhelming. There’s blockbuster spinoffs, quiet indies, the return of TV’s most chaotic restaurant, and Kevin Costner returning to the big screen. Now that Carmy and Sydney have opened their posh restaurant, no doubt everything will be completely peaceful and conflict-free in Season 3. There’s no way, for example, two or more characters will start a yelling match in the middle of the kitchen in the middle of a very busy dinner service. The streamer’s female-led drama series tend to follow a formulaic storyline of “bad husband, money troubles, the need to start over,” and this adaptation of a novel by Sandra Berneda falls into that category. Problemistafollows Alejandro (Torres) as he tries to juggle his dream of becoming a toy designer with the fact that he’s been fired from his last job and his work visa isn’t due for renewal in time. He tries to get a job as an assistant to the cantankerous art critic Elizabeth (Tilda Swinton), but it proves to be much harder than he imagined. It’s endearing and very funny. —S.S.
