The Peacocks pulled off a come-from-behind victory with a strong bench from the original show (the best of which was poker face) — as well as a huge selection of original and exclusive movies, including new releases and some you may have missed during quarantine. There’s some honorable stuff here, but there’s also some stuff that’s a little less prestigious, including some drama from people you might have liked. real housewife, and a bunch of clever Blumhouse horror. There’s a little something for everyone here.
drive away dolls (2024)
Directed solo by Ethan Coen (he co-wrote the screenplay with Tricia Cooke), it’s a wonderfully free-spirited homage to the exploitation romance films of the ’70s. They learn this when they discover a briefcase filled with sex toys and human heads. That kind of makes for some great lesbian adventures.

Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie (2023)
Tony Shalhoub returns and takes over the role as America’s most popular obsessive detective Adrian Monk, 14 years after the series ended. Impressively, the film very wisely depicts the impact of the coronavirus on the life of a germophobe named Monk, who becomes embroiled in a case involving his stepdaughter’s deceased fiancée. It seems like he hasn’t gone outside.
if you are the last (2023)
Anthony Mackie and Zoe Chao play two astronauts who spend three years adrift on an unnavigable ship in this unlikely space romantic comedy. They are literally the last two people left, as everyone back home thinks they are dead. In Christian Mercado’s film, they are seen as opposites and at odds in almost every conversation, but their need to communicate brings them closer together. It’s charmingly old-fashioned in that it tries to rely on dialogue to move us forward.
disease (2022)
This Blumhouse slasher was dropped on Peacock in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, and it was, well, a big deal. Enough time has passed that we can pretend the incident didn’t/still hasn’t happened, but it’s a little easier to swallow this wonderfully nasty woodshed murder case. Scream’s Kevin Williamson wrote a story about a murder during quarantine.

mid century (2022)
The luxury rental property you’re looking at may not be all that’s being policed. The rebellious life of Mrs. Rosa Parks (2022)
This effective Peacock original documentary continues to remind us that the Rosa Parks of our collective imagination is largely fictional. At the time of the Montgomery bus boycott, Parks was far from a little old woman too tired to give up her seat; she was a youthful activist who had spent years planning and strategizing around civil rights. . Once again, her determination and her radical politics shine through.
you should have left (2020)
Another Blumhouse horror, another spooky house, and more Kevin Bacon. There may be a new flavor to Peacock’s horror offerings, and to be honest, I’m not mad about it. Here, Bacon is joined by Amanda Seyfried in the role of the wife of a too-young actress, of whom Bacon is perpetually jealous, a situation further complicated and exacerbated by a villa in Wales. The property itself seems to be filled with malevolence and reflects the problems in our unhappy couple’s marriage.

Drew Sidora and Rob Reilly play a couple who renounce each other’s chastity for a night together, with predictably steamy results. There’s nothing wrong with a movie that delivers what you expect.
years between (2022)

bosco (2024)
Based on the memoirs of Quantay “Bosco” Adams (here played by Aubrey Joseph), who was sentenced to 35 years in a maximum security prison in 2004 for a heinous and unforgivable crime. –Well, this movie keeps that a secret for quite some time. meanwhile. Suffice it to say, it’s not hard to root for him as he plans an inventive and quite spectacular escape with the help of his prison pen pal played by Nikki Blonsky.
house of gucci (2021)
Director Ridley Scott hasn’t had much luck with historical blockbusters, but this slightly smaller film about the Gucci dynasty was more successful at the box office and received generally positive reviews. Lady Gaga and Adam Driver star in this gorgeous, suitably creepy crime drama about a battle for control of a fashion brand.
night swim (2024)
Writer/director Bryce McGuire expanded his 2014 short into a full-length feature with somewhat mixed results, but the horror-fantasy starts with a fun premise. trolls unite (2023)
It may be a little late for a movie that parodies boy bands, but this third film is… troll Otherwise, the movie is on par with the series. It’s full of jokes, family friendly, and overall silly fun. Justin Timberlake leads an all-star voice cast that includes Anna Kendrick, Kenan Thompson, Ron Funches, and RuPaul. There’s also a sing-along version for brave parents.
