There are some great new anime shows to watch this month, but there’s also a nice selection of new Blu-ray releases to keep an eye on for those looking to add to their library. Bleach, Fist of the North Star, and Medarot are just a few of the classics destined for the physical medium, while on the more modern side of the medium, The Great Pretender, Insomniacs After School, Programs such as “BORUTO” are attracting attention. Lead the charge.
Bleach fans are really coming into their own these days, as the anime adaptation of the manga’s final story was incredible. BLEACH Millennium Blood War offered a take-no-prisoners arc of war and death, with great animation and even better pacing, thanks to the manga that concluded a few years ago. Without worrying about keeping up with the manga’s content, Studio Pierrot brings Soul Society and his Bleach protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki into battle against the vengeful forces of Wandenreich, with sharp animation and state-of-the-art combat. 2 was able to deliver his series. With this month’s release of Bleach, the first 13 episodes of the revived Bleach series will be on Blu-ray, available in both special edition and regular Blu-ray.
And Berserk is backThe long-awaited Blu-ray release of the dark fantasy series by the late Kentaro Miura. This is a restoration of his original 1997 animated series, a harsh and cruel tale of swords and fate that only gets better with age. Especially when compared to other poor Berserk adaptations. In addition to all 25 episodes available in high definition, you can watch the series in its original Japanese dub or the infamous English version, and includes all the extras from previous DVD releases.
Other highlights this month include award-winning animated films Sparrowa critically acclaimed masterpiece that is elegantly animated and entertaining. a terrible impostor, an ingenious tale of con artists who target the worst of high society. Both of these anime are available in deluxe editions, so they would make thoughtful gifts if you’re looking to treat a friend or yourself. Finally, the second season of Medarot is coming to Blu-ray this month. Originally aired during the anime era when everyone was hoping it would become the next Pokemon, Medarot is a fun and cheeky series where kids pit their robot friends against each other in Medabattles. This work includes all 39 episodes of the second season in uncut Japanese version.
