Bondi mass murderer Joel Couch had an astonishing Google search history ahead of his attacks, it has been revealed, with police discovering he looked up knives and ‘methods to kill’ on his mobile phone. .
“He was obsessed with murder, and he was obsessed with knives. That in itself tells you it wasn’t a random attack,” said Crime Editor of Current Affairs. said Simon Bouda. “That’s very scary.”
Bouda said police had reportedly downloaded and discovered data from the attacker’s mobile phone since the weekend. Authorities also reportedly found “disturbing” notes and drawings from the attacker.
Attackers have been spotted at other Westfield locations in recent weeks.
Police also told Bouda that the attacker had been seen at other Westfield locations in Sydney and it was unclear whether he was simply visiting or was “looking elsewhere” for the attack. It is said that
“In recent weeks it has been seen in Sydney’s western suburbs at Westfield in Penrith and Westfield in Parramatta,” he said. “We know that everything has happened in very quick succession over the past few weeks.”
Many victims approached from behind.
Many of the victims killed and injured in the attack are believed to have been approached from behind, but each victim reportedly had a “grisly” detail and Mr Couch did not say anything. .
“That makes it even more appalling. Not a single word was said at any stage of the ordeal inside the shopping centre,” Bouda said.
“We believe the first woman was queuing to buy coffee and the man came up behind her and stabbed her in the back. He then stabbed another woman in the back. He didn’t even look at them.”
Police said most of Mr Couch’s victims were women and there were “clear targets for investigation”.
Police hope the public will ‘never’ see ‘horrific’ CCTV footage
Social media is full of videos taken by shoppers inside the shopping center during the chaos, but the Westfield CCTV footage is so “horrifying” that police say they have “not allowed it to see the light of day.” He is reportedly hoping that there will be no such thing.
“The actual surveillance footage from inside Westfield is truly horrifying and it is my understanding that the police would very much like to see this surveillance footage never see the light of day in public.” said Bouda.
Six people were killed by Couch, and the rest were admitted to hospitals across the city, with a nine-year-old infant reportedly moved from the intensive care unit to a hospital ward. She is not expected to have any lasting physical injuries.
