What happens: It was only fitting that the queen of bohemian chic, Sienna Miller, was one of the front row guests to grace Chemena Kamali’s debut collection for Chloé.
The British actress may have turned her back on the style that once spawned thousands of copies, but she feels it’s ripe for a comeback.
“It’s been so long ago that it’s become vintage, so we’ve got all these great things that are trending again now. I think that’s why I’m so excited about this show. ” she told WWD. “It feels like a nostalgic throwback to a time when it was actually really fun and creative. And now I like it.”
Kamali, who previously worked at Chloé under Phoebe Philo and Clare Waight Keller, channeled the brand’s cool-girl chic with a collection of floaty blouses and retro-hued capes.
Dressed in a boxy black leather jacket, lace-trimmed slip skirt, and chunky wedge heels, Miller has seen the brand in several incarnations.
“I think everything they’ve done so far is really beautiful and true to Chloé, which is a feminine, bohemian brand. I’m already excited about the borrowed accessories, so I’m excited to see what’s on the runway. I can’t wait to see it,” she said. “I feel like Chloe was the first person I fell in love with.”
A look down the row reveals fellow guests, including Kiernan Shipka, Thomasin McKenzie, and Georgia May Jagger, are wearing the same shoes, but only Pat Cleveland can claim they’re custom made. Ta.
“I have this shoe with my name on it. It says Pat,” she exclaimed, pointing to the graffiti-like writing on the heel.
Kamali, who is obsessed with the late ’70s when Karl Lagerfeld was the brand’s creative director, included the inscription as a tribute to the veteran model, who attended with model daughter Anna Cleveland and son-in-law Jefferson Hack.
There was also a little reunion moment, as the Clevelands posed for a photo with fellow icon Jerry Hall and his daughter Georgia May Jagger.
Hall is one of the faces of Kamali’s campaign for office. “I was so excited, so moved, so honored and surprised. Lately, I’ve been modeling for my grandmother,” the 67-year-old said with a big smile.
Jagger said she was inspired by watching videos of her mother in her prime as a model.
“It was so much fun because she was just dancing around. It had the feel of a theater show more than just a runway. I love that so I hope that comes back,” she said. said.
Hall was a camel vision of the new Chloe from head to toe. “I love these ‘Puss in Boots’ giant boots and I’m so excited because they come in my size,” she purred.
