Celebrity Irish chef Richard Corrigan will open his country mansion in County Cavan this year as a weekend gourmet retreat.
The restaurateur owns Corrigan’s Bar & Restaurant, Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill and Daffodil Mulligan Restaurant & Gibney’s Bar in London, as well as Virginia Park Lodge in Cavan.
The Meath native announced this month that his 100-acre 18th-century hunting estate on the shores of Lough L’Amour will be the site of his first ever Homegrown Festival.
Mr Corrigan, who bought it in 2014, has spent the past decade working hard to restore the property to its former glory.
Now celebrating 10 years of Mr Corrigan owning this idyllic venue, Mr Corrigan’s Gourmet Festival celebrates the lodge’s land with an event boasting food, drink, music, lake bathing and more.
“My heart and soul live at Virginia Park Lodge,” Corrigan explained.
“Since restoring this glorious place 10 years ago, I have given it my all, and I am so happy to be able to open our doors to 80 guests this November.”
He added: “Homegrown will showcase the best of everything we do here at The Lodge, where we have worked tirelessly to be as self-sufficient as possible.
“The farm is located in a stunning landscape along the beautiful Lake L’Amour, resulting in some truly outstanding produce.
“This November, I invite my guests to join me in some of my favorite activities, enjoy the amazing food that my dear friends and I have prepared, and share in the beauty of this wild land. I would appreciate it if you could.”
Held over the weekend of November 1-3, the event will bring together some of Corrigan’s favorite chefs, including Angela Hartnett, Valentine Warner and Robin Gill, to join in the culinary fun.
The event will feature a series of feasts, culinary masterclasses and foraging workshops, showcasing seasonal produce grown on-site and farmed livestock, as well as Corrigan’s favorite suppliers from the surrounding area.
