Netflix has finally announced the release date of its new movie ‘Chamkila’. On Instagram on Monday, the streaming platform posted a short clip featuring Diljit Dosanjh. Netflix shared the video and wrote, “Maahour bann jaata tha jab vo chedta tha saaz, kuch aisa hi tha Chamkila ka Andaaz (banjo emoji) (When he sings, crowds gather, that was his style).” Ta. AmarSinghChamkila of @imtiazaliofficial arrives April 12th, only on Netflix! ‘Chamkila’ marks the first on-screen collaboration between Diljit and director Imtiaz Ali.
About Imtiaz Ali’s Chamkira
The film depicts the untold true story of Punjab’s original mass rock star Amar Singh Chamkira. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film revolves around Amarjot Kaur and Amar Singh Chamkira. While Parineeti Chopra will essay the role of Amarjot, Diljit will be seen playing the role of Chamkila. Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife Amarjot Kaur were assassinated on March 8, 1988, along with members of their music band.
