What you need to know
The Bulls will be in front of their home fans on Friday, but developments suggest they may need home court advantage. They will face the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday at 10pm ET. Both teams will come into the match based on their victory in the previous match.
It may have taken two overtimes to get the job done, but the Bulls finally got the result they wanted Wednesday. They took the lead against Cleveland by a score of 132-123. The success was a return to normalcy for the Bulls, who suffered a shocking 105-95 loss to the Pistons last time out.
The Bulls won with the help of several key players, but DeMar DeRozan led the way with a double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds. It was the first time this season that DeRozan grabbed 10 or more rebounds. Another player who made a difference was Andre Drummond, who had a double-double with 17 points and 26 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Bucks have already won three in a row (outscoring opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and on Thursday they won four in a row. They defeated Charlotte 111-99. The team ran away with 70 points in the first half and held on to that point for most of the way to the victory.
Giannis Antetokounmpo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, posting a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Chicago’s victory improved their record to 28 wins and 31 losses. As for Milwaukee, they have been on a roll lately, winning six of their last eight games, a nice improvement on their 39-21 record this season.
This is a contest where possession is likely to be a big factor. The Bulls haven’t given up the ball easily this season, averaging only 11.7 turnovers per game (ranking third overall in turnovers per game). However, the Bucks are averaging just 12.4 turnovers per game, so it’s not like they’re struggling in that department. Given these competing strengths, it will be interesting to see how their conflict plays out.
The Bulls fell short in their last game against the Bucks in December 2023, losing 133-129. A major factor in this loss was Antetokounmpo’s overwhelming performance, achieving a double-double with 32 points and 12 rebounds. The Bulls know the damage he can cause, so will they be able to stop him this time? Check him out on CBSSports.com after the game to find out.
