Should tomato sauce be stored in the refrigerator or cupboard?
Inside the refrigerator. 100%. My favorite food combination is something really cold and something really hot. Apple pie, ice cream, etc. Cold tomato sauce on warm pie. My husband says I should keep it in the cupboard. “Can I get a divorce?”
What word do you hate the most?
It gives me chills. There’s nothing boring about it. I think cringe is a cultural thing that we’ve created that specifically targets neurodiverse people and people who don’t fit into the norm. I think it’s super cool when people are like that.
If you had to be a reality TV contestant tomorrow, who would it be?
It’s one of those terrible baking shows like Nailed It on Netflix. It’s not a question of talent, just pure atmosphere is one of the key factors. I would never do anything like a celebrity. I don’t want to eat spiders. I was asked to be on that show twice and I said, “Absolutely no!” You’re not going to make me eat a scorpion. ”
If animals could talk, who would be the kindest?
I’m a complete animal lover. I have 75 pets. But I want to talk to sharks. Sharks are so misunderstood. I hugged them and said, “It’s okay!” Then the shark says, “I just want to be friends.”
What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever done for love?
I met my husband on a dating app. And after 4 days of talking on the app, we said “I love you” before we met. It was the peak of Corona. Melbourne had a ring of steel. If you were in the city, you were not allowed to leave the city’s barriers. Like the Simpsons movie when there’s that dome.
I was not allowed to go out except to see loved ones. I couldn’t wait any longer. So he goes through a steel ring to meet a chick he’s never met before. He came to my house and never left.
What is your most awkward encounter with a celebrity?
Before I was famous, I went to the premiere of The Greatest Showman because my best friend was in it. I went to the after-party and someone tripped over me. “I’m so embarrassed,” I thought, and then a hand came down to pull me up and it was Hugh Jackman.
I’m also a huge fangirl. I even wrote One Direction fanfiction, and their faces were all over the walls. So now being in the same industry as these guys, whenever I do something with Aria or Actus or Logies, it’s just embarrassing. It’s like, “Oh my god, I love you so much – shit, I’m so sorry I forgot, I’m one of you now too, so I have to act professional.”
At this year’s Logies, I met Chilli from my favorite TV show, Bluey. I was playing Glambot when I heard Chilli’s voice. I was looking around to find out whose voice she was, and I came across her! Big fan.
What is your least favorite bird and why?
I don’t have a bird that I don’t like. But my favorite bird is the pigeon. They are so underrated. Do you know their history? Pigeons were originally bred as pets and companion birds, like man’s best friend. And we left them alone and now they are roaming the streets. Have you ever seen a pigeon’s nest? I feel sorry for them. Since they are domestic animals, they do not know how to build nests. Actually, it’s really sad. People hate them, but it’s our fault – we did this to them.
What are you secretly good at?
I can look at someone’s face and instantly tell if they’re Irish, Australian, or American. You’ll be walking down the street and think, “That person is Irish.” Then they speak, and they become Irish. I’m Irish and my father is Irish, so maybe it’s Irish telepathic communication.
Can you describe your high school experience in three words?
It’s really not good.
If you had to go back to high school, what would you do differently?
I was homeschooled starting in 8th grade because my high school experience was so bad. I was diagnosed with autism and my parents were asked to withdraw me from school. They said, “She can’t survive, this education system isn’t made for her, and if you keep her there you’ll lose her.”
So I want to be able to go back and sit down with my teachers and say, “This is who I am.” And you need to be able to take care of me. It’s not just about me, so I need to be able to consider everyone with different ideas. There are probably many children in your class who are suffering silently. You don’t know about it because they’re too scared to tell you.
I wish I had the knowledge I have now so I could go back in time and change what happened.
