Google is testing an interesting use of Picture-in-Picture (PiP) on Android that allows you to minimize Chrome custom tabs.
When you open a link (for example, from Gmail) using a Chrome custom tab,[戻る]A new downward chevron appears to the right of the button. (The app bar is a little crowded with site information, page/site name, shares, and overflow.)
This reduces the web page to a picture-in-picture window. His PiP includes the site’s favicon, page name, and domain.
You can also resize it to make it larger (though that doesn’t make sense for this use case). PiP can be docked to the left/right edge of the screen. To return to that page, tap the window and click the full screen button. This will reopen your Chrome custom tab, but only one PiP session can be open at a time. To remove it, swipe down or tap the “x” button in the corner.
We are currently seeing this issue on some Android smartphones running the latest stable version of Chrome 122. This has not yet been widely deployed.
If you don’t have this PiP feature to minimize Chrome custom tabs, try the flag chrome://flags/#cct-minimized.
