To celebrate Earth Month, Lee City Summit will host a Recycling Fest with the Stream Team to tackle trash in our waterways and support recycling. Stream Team will be held April 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at Langsford Park (1709 SE Langsford Road) and RecycleFEST will be held from April 27 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Maintenance Facility (1971 SE Hamblen Road) .
The Stream Team protects habitat along local streams by removing trash and debris from streams in city parks. This event will focus on cleaning up East Fork Little Blue Creek in Langsford Park. Those wishing to participate should meet in the parking lot on the southwest corner of Langsford Road and Todd George Road. Community service hours are available for students and scouts. Participants must register and complete a liability release in advance at CityofLS.net/Sweep.
RecycleFEST is an opportunity for Lee’s Summit residents to dispose of a variety of items that can be recycled or reclaimed, reducing harm to the environment and saving landfill space. Items include adult bicycles, cell phones, license plates, hearing aids, rechargeable batteries, eyeglasses, crayons, and more. Residents can bring in up to four paper grocery bags containing documents per household to be shredded and recycled. The event is free. Visit CityofLS.net/RecycleFest for a complete list of accepted items.
