Hey Upper East Siders.Monday afternoon with Editor-in-Chief Mel Ottenberg. interview Conciliere Jeremy O. Harris went to Coach FW24’s show, which was held in the Great Hall, just down the stairs from where Blair and Serena would gather in front of the school every morning. So it was no surprise that Stuart Vevers’ new collection ignited our chic schoolgirl fantasies. “It felt like I was watching a new version of gossip girl” Harris later reflected on the show while eating a chicken salad sandwich at Three Guys Diner.
———
Mel Ottenberg: Okay, I’m at Three Guys Diner. You are eating a chicken salad sandwich.
Jeremy O. Harris: Eating food is too confusing, but I needed food. I drank too much coffee.
Ottenberg: We had to go to the most “New York” place we could digest.
Harris: Yeah, it was very Upper East Side.
Ottenberg: Where was it?
HARRIS: It was called the Marika Wilczek Great Hall.
Ottenberg: I Really I love cut-up dresses.
Harris: It was similar to how I felt when I watched Alessandro’s really fun show. Like a group of kids who raided their grandparents’ closets and rearranged old staples into new staples. There was a really fun, fun energy to it that was like, “I’m just waking up, I’m wearing this, and I’m walking to get coffee.”
Ottenberg: Yes. And I like barrettes. Have you ever worn barrettes in your hair?
Harris: Yes. In fact, when I went to CFDA with my coach, I wore some barrettes. It was very, very fun.
Ottenberg: I like hair ties.
HARRIS: You know, Stuart did something. [Vevers] I think what a lot of people didn’t understand about this show was that he made wearability still have a strong story.
Ottenberg: Yes. Well, that’s missing in fashion right now. Ease of use and desire can go hand in hand, as opposed to things like “I don’t know what the hell is going on.”
HARRIS: Well, I think a lot of people are saying, “I can wear Zara, I’m not going to do it anymore, but it’s going to be expensive.” And they don’t realize that, yeah, what people really want may be a nice trench or nice pants. But they also want to be asked to dream about what they look like and feel like. And about this, it felt like I had stepped into New York, a dream rather than a reality. I think this is too true.and I want more fantasy.
Ottenberg: Okay. How do you think this week went? Is it too realistic or like a real clown city?
Harris: Actually, New York is doing a really good job this fashion week.We have many fantasies, someone’s actual fantasy. Meanwhile, many luxury homes in London, Paris, and Milan seem to have abandoned it, save for the likes of Galliano, Simone Rocha, and Danny Rosebery, who I saw on my timeline all week.
Ottenberg: Yes. What do you want from this collection? Do you want a hoodie? Want a giant coat? Do you want Chanel clothes?
Harris: I want that big weekend bag. I felt like I was traveling today, so I brought two bags. He has three bags, like he’s going out with his father’s suitcase, or his father’s weekend trip. after that They pick up their girlfriend’s handbag and run to the coffee shop to meet her because she forgot it at the coffee shop.
Ottenberg: What’s in your bag today?
Harris: All I have in my bag is American Spirits, Blue, and my cell phone.
Ottenberg: How about another bag?
Harris: Sunglasses and a pink lighter.
Ottenberg: Is the coach lighter?
Harris: It’s not the coach.
Ottenberg: You should make a writer.
Harris: There are also four photos taken in Coach’s photo booth. they again, very Good front row.
Ottenberg: Who was the girl you had a crush on?
Harris: It was Nymphia Wind.she is the new queen drag race. She also wants to watch this season of the show because her clips are always so good.
Ottenberg: I don’t think so.
Harris: I do. A common joke about her is that she can’t be very good at something, and then she completely ruins it. By the way, Tommy Dorfman was great.
Ottenberg: Tommy Dorfman was great.
Harris: Stormy Reed too. And Camila Mendes, the always stunning and perfect coach girl, also excites me. She has real star quality. And she brought her mother.
Ottenberg: Wait, her name sounds familiar. Where did you hear about her?
Harris: riverdale. Can we talk about attraction?
Ottenberg: Yes.
HARRIS: Pat McGrath is, once again, constantly reinventing what it means to see a certain way. Everyone’s loose hair looked fresh and somehow sexy. Oh, it helped tell the story. It felt like I was watching a new version of gossip girlas if everyone was trying to sit on the stairs.
Ottenberg: I actually thought the look was very restrained. she is a cool girl.
