The anonymous author of the notorious Hollywood gossip blog “Crazy Days and Nights” inadvertently revealed his identity in a Florida courtroom last year in the aftermath of a messy extramarital affair, but this is his website. It wouldn’t be out of place on one of its famous “blind items”.
Crazy Days and Nights (often abbreviated as CDaN) is notorious for publishing sensational and inflammatory claims about unknown celebrities with little regard for accuracy. In fact, the blog acknowledged in its disclaimer that some of the content may be “a figment of the author’s imagination,” and last year it settled a defamation lawsuit with Diana Jenkins. real housewives of beverly hills.
However, some items have a basis in reality. CDaN’s lead blogger, who uses the pen name “Entee Lawyer,” is known for soundly defeating major publications on several major stories, including the predatory behavior of Harvey Weinstein, and is known for his work in mainstream media. , which has created a certain mystique among QAnon-style conspiracy theorists and mainstream media. Ordinary celebrity watcher.
Several profiles of Attorney Entee have been published, but they were written under an agreement to keep his identity secret. But The Daily Beast reports that the person behind “Crazy Days and Nights” throwing dirt is John, a California lawyer who ran unsuccessfully for Congress as a progressive Democrat in 2018. He identified himself as Robert Nelson. It is unclear whether he currently practices law or, as his name suggests, once practiced entertainment law.
Nelson’s secret life came to light because he had an affair with a woman in Florida, sparking legal complaints and accusations of abusive behavior.
Last year, he sought a restraining order against the woman, Cassandra Claus, and included information in a Florida court filing that matched the woman’s claims on social media that he was the author of CDaN.
In a complaint filed Nov. 8, 2023, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Nelson and his wife, Victoria, claim that he has an “intimate relationship” with part-time podcaster Cassandra Crouse, and that they are in a relationship. He said it had gotten worse. After Claus learns that Nelson entered into a relationship under false pretenses.
In her complaint, Nelson alleges that Close falsely claimed she was pregnant, falsely accused her of sexually abusing her daughter, and made “explosive, violent, and threatening” phone calls and text messages on a daily basis. He claimed to have conducted a concentrated attack by sending hundreds of messages.
He said she threatened to expose Nelson’s online persona to the public, paid Nelson at least $1,500 a month in hush money, and told family members “to keep her from exposing me.” He said he stayed with Claus because he feared for his safety. .
Despite the payment, Claus’ anger, threats and repeated references to the children motivated the couple to seek a restraining order, according to the filing. According to the complaint, when Kroes learned the couple was going to court, she revealed Nelson’s true identity on social media and in a podcast episode.
Nelson did not explicitly state in his legal filing that he was running CDaN. CDaN was launched in 2006 as a blog and later added a podcast. But he writes: “For the past 17 years, I have supplemented the majority of my income through online blogging, and then in 2018 I started earning the majority of my income through podcasting. Throughout this period, my identity has remained anonymous.”
The complaint also cites specific social media posts and podcast episodes that revealed Mr. Close’s identity, details of which are consistent with instances in which Mr. Close claimed to be the author of CDaN.
The court found that the injunction request against Claus failed to allege sufficient facts to support the claim and that the complaint did not comply with federal court procedure.
In dismissing Nelson, the judge recommended that he “obtain legal advice and assistance or representation from an attorney.” The first lawsuit was concluded on Dec. 5, and Nelson filed a new lawsuit against Crouse in Pinellas County Court, which is currently pending.
Ms Close denied threatening Ms Nelson or wooing her for financial gain and suggested many of the text messages cited in her filing did not come from her. Nelson did not respond to her calls, emails and text messages seeking comment. A lawyer representing him did not respond to a request for comment.
Claus and Nelson’s relationship was the subject of a podcast she co-hosted with friend Tiffany Buzbee. In the episode “Soaking in the Drama,” Claus and Buzbee relive what they claim was a web of lies concocted by Nelson.
“I was more afraid of what would happen if I didn’t speak up about it, what he would continue to do,” Kroes told The Daily Beast.
In the podcast’s debut episode, Clouse said she purchased the opportunity to record an episode with Nelson in 2022 from Nelson’s Patreon account. The account sells one-time co-hosting opportunities for $250, but he also purchased the opportunity to record an episode with Nelson on another podcast, “Cassandra Explains Everything.” Close told The Daily Beast that Nelson remained in touch, continued to record podcast episodes, and their romantic relationship continued. He allegedly told her that she was single and lived alone.
Nelson planned a trip to visit her in Florida for her birthday, during which they “fell in love,” she recalled on the podcast. The couple reportedly made plans to move in together.
She said on the podcast that Nelson’s wife contacted her, concerned that he was cheating on her, and Nelson claimed that she was an alcoholic and that they were planning to separate. At one point, she claimed, Nelson lied about going to a sports bar and she flew to her family in California. In her court filing, Nelson also touched on this moment, but she claimed that she was “forced to lie to escape” from Claus.
Close told listeners that Nelson professed to love her until the day he served her with a legal notice. She also once sent her what she believed to be falsified or fraudulent court records in an attempt to convince her that he was seeking a divorce from his wife. he claimed.
As the podcast series progressed, Close detailed allegations that Nelson abused her. The allegations were also included in a Feb. 5 filing in state court that she provided to The Daily Beast and read out on a recent episode of “Soaking in the Drama.”
In a court complaint, Krouse alleged that Nelson acted violently on several occasions, including strangling her without her consent, slapping her, and punching her. She also claimed Nelson told her on January 11, 2023, that he had “killed women before” and that he was “smart enough” to get away with the murder.
The complaint also alleges that after Claus was served with legal documents, Nelson’s wife, Victoria, changed the background of his Twitter profile to a photo that Claus sent John Nelson of the storm outside his bedroom window. It is also claimed that it has been changed to Nelson also claimed that Close continued to make sexual requests even after he filed for a restraining order last October.
According to the complaint, Nelson texted Close on Nov. 2, 2022, saying, “You are mine and mine alone. I will use you as I wish.” .
Since dating Nelson, Claus has shared several audio recordings that Nelson sent her while they were dating. The voice in the clip sounds the same as Attorney Enty’s voice on CDaN’s podcast on Patreon, and Close shared several video clips of Nelson speaking to the camera, in which Nelson can be clearly seen. I can see and hear it. Clouse told the Daily Beast that she frequently communicates with Nelson over Zoom, sits in on recordings of CDaN podcasts, watches TV shows together, and even sees Nelson masturbating. She said she was watching.
In audio recordings Kroes shared with The Daily Beast, Nelson can be heard having sexual fantasies about physically abusing her and hitting her with a belt for eating unhealthy food. .
Clouse told The Daily Beast that the audio clip reflected Nelson’s “interest” in sex and that Nelson had harmed her during their intimate relationship, causing her to cry and feel uncomfortable. He said he would be furious if he made such a statement.
“He knew I didn’t want it. He did it anyway,” Clouse told The Daily Beast. “I didn’t expect much of that to translate into real life, but he was a lot more violent than I expected.”
Despite knowing about her history of eating disorders and domestic violence, Nelson became obsessed with her weight and regularly asked her to send him photos of herself on the scale. That’s what it means. She said she lost about 35 pounds when she got into a romantic relationship.
On her podcast, Kroes described her relationship with Nelson as emotionally abusive and claimed that Nelson’s harassment through the legal system was “ongoing.”
“I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with him, and I thought he loved my kids,” Claus told Buzbee in the first episode. “Right now, human capabilities are scary for me.”
