I tried it on one Windows 10 system and three Windows 11 PCs. I even started a virtual machine to see if it made a difference. Nada.
According to Microsoft, customers in the European Economic Area should be able to do this. When you check Microsoft Edge in the Settings app on your Windows 10 or Windows 11 device, the uninstall button will be grayed out. I double-checked that I have the latest Windows updates installed.

Microsoft is not updating posts on its website. The most likely explanation is that the rollout is not yet complete and is being controlled server-side. There is no official update, so it is unknown whether it is true or not. It may also be a bug that affects some systems.
There are several ways to remove Microsoft Edge. This requires running the command from an elevated PowerShell terminal window. Users who really want to get rid of Edge can resort to these options.
However, Microsoft promised that you can uninstall Edge just like any other regular app on your system.

Most Windows users in the EU and EEC probably don’t know about the option to (eventually) uninstall Edge. Uninstalling it may lead you to a dead end. If Edge is your only browser, there is no obvious option to install another browser. Now that Edge is gone, there doesn’t seem to be an option to install another browser.
