In honor of Earth Day, the public is invited to join in the effort to clean up Marsh Creek near Sachs Covered Bridge in Cumberland Township.
The Gettysburg Nature Alliance (GNA) will host the event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to a release.
“This is a great opportunity to clean up the area around Sachs Bridge. Every day should be Earth Day, but on this day it’s important to set aside and focus on our environment,” said the GNA and Gettysburg Heritage Center. said Executive Director Stephanie Lightner.
GNA will provide cleaning supplies, but participants are welcome to bring their own. We recommend wearing rain boots and insect repellent.
Participants will be entered into a drawing to win a free 1-year GNA membership.
This event will be held at the Saxbridge Barn located at 720 Pumping Station Road. Participants must take the first left turn after passing the bridge bend.
“Founded in 2019, the Gettysburg Nature Alliance is dedicated to preserving, educating, and restoring Gettysburg’s natural habitats and historic buildings to ensure they are preserved for future generations,” according to the release. It is a non-profit organization that does this.”
