EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — An East El Paso store has been forced to close for a week after a crash in the store’s parking lot.
Terry Ortiz, owner of Cradles & Crayons Kids Cafe, told ABC-7 that she learned of the incident after an employee started emailing her on social media about someone breaking into her store at night. He said he found out.
Cradles & Crayons Kids Cafe will be open daily from 4 to 6 p.m., Ortiz said. We will also provide more than 180 free meals to area children who stay for after-school programs or whose parents may not be home.
“We will have to close for at least a week before we can reopen. But that means we won’t be able to provide around 1,000 meals this week to the community and the children who normally come to pick up their meals. “It will be,” Ortiz said.
Ortiz said witnesses told him the suspect crashed into a parking lot and then fled.
Ortiz said she doesn’t plan to set up a GoFundMe, but is waiting to see if they will have to repair it themselves or if it will be covered by insurance.
Police said they received a call about a car accident just before 1 a.m.
We will update you as soon as we have more information about what exactly happened.
