of everyone loves raymond Creators told ABC Audio that one of the best gourmet spots this season is in Kyoto, and asked world-renowned chefs Rene Redzepithe restaurant owner, Norma, takes him to her favorite place.
“He took us to a fancy little soba restaurant where the chef was also a farmer,” Rosenthal recalls.
“So he grows wheat, he makes buckwheat, he makes his own flour. And that’s all he does. He’s a buckwheat machine,” he jokes.
Another memorable bite was at a small Palestinian-run shop in Dubai that literally brought Phil to tears.
“First up is the flavor bomb. It’s absolutely delicious. It’s insanely delicious,” he raved.
“But for you to be transported, I can’t even explain it other than magic. It was like time travel,” Rosenthal continued.
He added: I was Jewish, she was Palestinian, and did it mean anything more to me at the time? This was taken before the problem occurred. But we bonded in a beautiful way. Talk about connecting through food. ”
Rosenthal says his greatest joy is when people visit the places he visits on his show. “Nothing makes me feel better,” he admits. “A lot of people DM us on Instagram with pictures of them happily eating at the places we took them. I mean, nothing makes me happier when I see that.”
