Following this week's leak regarding PlayStation 5 Pro GPU specs and performance targets, Insider Gaming has learned more about the PlayStation 5 Pro's specs. I also include the standard PlayStation 5 specs for comparison.
system memory
Standard PlayStation 5 – 448 GB/s (14 GT/s)
PlayStation 5 Pro – 576 GB/s (18GT/s) – 28% increase over standard console.
It's also outlined that the PlayStation 5 Pro's system memory is more efficient than the standard console, potentially increasing bandwidth gains by more than 28%.
CPU
The CPU is the same as the standard PlayStation 5, but the Pro has a “High CPU Frequency Mode” that bumps the CPU speed to 3.85 GHz, a 10% increase over the standard console.
High CPU frequency mode allocates more power to the CPU, downclocks the GPU by approximately 1.5%, and reduces GPU performance by approximately 1%.
audio
ACV on PlayStation 5 Pro runs at a higher clock speed than the standard PlayStation 5, resulting in a 35% increase in performance for the ACM library.
- Can handle more convolution reverbs
- Can handle more FFTs or IFFTs
GPU (previously revealed)
- 45% faster rendering than PS5
- 2-3x raytracing (possibly x4)
- 33.5 teraflops
- PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling) Upscaling/Antialiasing Solution
- Support for resolutions up to 8K is planned for future SDK versions
- Custom machine learning architecture
- AI accelerator supports 300 TOPS of 8-bit operations / 67 TFLOPS of 16-bit floating point
Additionally, the standard PlayStation 5 compares 30 WGPs running the specialized BVH8 traversal shader to 18 WGPs running the BVH4 traversal shader.
Also, as a means of making the PlayStation 5 Pro as “competitive” as possible (not my wording here), it has a removable disk drive identical to the latest version of the standard PlayStation 5, and a 1TB It is also understood that capacity will be on board. storage space.
The PlayStation 5 Pro currently runs on SKD 9.00, with SDK 10.00 scheduled for fall 2024, the console's current target release date.
