Google Calendar for Android has made some small adjustments to the way you create events and tasks.
Previously, you used the Floating Action Button (FAB) to choose whether to add an event, task, or out of office entry (Google Workspace accounts only).
- Manage your time more easily: You can now use it to create events and add tasks.
Now you’ll see the Events, Tasks, and Out of Office pickers just below the title field in the full-screen UI. Tapping changes the options displayed on the rest of the page.
There are currently no changes to FAB, but Google Calendar could theoretically remove the floating option. Jumping directly to the creation page greatly simplifies this UI. After all, Google Tasks already offers a dedicated app.
This event task UI is rolling out in Google Calendar for Android version 2024.07.0-608174112. To trigger this server-side update, force the app to stop. It just added a pair of lock screen widgets, although they don’t appear in the iOS app yet.
