Location sharing is a useful tool, but if you lose track of what you’re sharing, it can be hard to find everything. On Android, Google is currently preparing a dedicated page that will host all location sharing services in one place.
Google offers location sharing on Android in several ways. One is with his Google Maps, which allows users to share their real-time location with other users, but there are others. However, currently you have to juggle each service one by one.
But behind the scenes, Google is working on a new hub for location services simply called “Google Location Sharing.” This was discovered in a recent Google Play Services update and shared by the following users: piunica webis designed to integrate all location sharing services active within your Google account.
This new feature is not yet functional, but it replaces existing pages running on the web and incorporates active location sharing services.
What services does this new page get its information from? Apparently it has 6 apps.
- google map
- Google “Find my device”
- personal safety
It also mentions three variations of “com.google.android.apps.gmm” related to Maps. Perhaps Family Link will also be supported.
It is unclear when this will be made available to the public.
