Google was asked if you had two websites and if your website’s ranking would drop if Google found out about them. Google’s John Mueller said that’s “unlikely,” adding that many people have multiple websites and that’s OK.
This question came up at the 32 second mark of Google SEO Office Hours in April, when Faith asked:
Question: My rankings have dropped because Google found out I have two websites. This is correct?
Answer: No, it is unlikely. Many people have multiple websites. Separate girlfriend websites are fine too. Often the problem is more indirect. If you work on a lot of websites, it doesn’t take much time to create a really great website anywhere. Also, if you have a website that isn’t very good, Google’s algorithm may pick up on it when recommending it to others.
