DEARBORN, MI (FOX 2) – Henry Ford College (HFC) recently announced an expanded partnership with Apple to offer the Apple Foundation Program, an introductory app development course, free to HFC students and all interested learners in the community. .
Sessions begin in March, and this unique program teaches the basics of iOS app development and introduces participants to a growing and in-demand specialty for careers in the technology industry.
Cassandra Meyers, HFC’s Program Manager for Workforce Development, said: “This is a great opportunity for students to be creative and immerse themselves in the world of iOS app development.”
The Apple Foundation program is offered as one- or three-month courses at HFC’s East Campus, with daytime and evening classes available. Through Apple’s learning framework, students learn Swift, Apple’s programming language, and the basic principles of app design and development. Students leverage Apple technology to enhance their creativity, collaboration, and conceptual thinking skills as they develop app prototypes. Apple devices will be provided to participants for the duration of the program. No previous coding experience required.

Through community education initiatives, Apple also supports two app development courses within HFC: Introduction to Mobile Application Development and Advanced Mobile Application Development (iOS). Both courses are part of HFC’s Mobile App Development Achievement Certificate, which students are encouraged to take upon completing his Apple Foundation program. Learners can also continue their learning through the Apple Developer Academy in Detroit. This is his 10-month educational program launched in 2021 as part of the company’s racial equity and justice initiatives.
