Apple Vision Pro arrived in stores and in the hands of customers almost a month ago. We’ve already seen that Apple’s mixed reality headset is quite fragile and can easily break if you’re not careful enough. And yes, even if he has AppleCare+, the repair price is not cheap. But how does Apple replace a broken Vision Pro? This video shows exactly how.
Replace your broken Apple Vision Pro
The owner of the YouTube channel “Practical Matters” recently shared how he accidentally dropped his Vision Pro on the floor and broke it. The front glass is completely broken and is no longer usable. Luckily for him, his Vision Pro was protected by his AppleCare+ coverage.
Apple Support gave him the option of sending the damaged Vision Pro unit in for repair, waiting for the repair to take longer, or picking up a replacement unit at his home as soon as it was available. And that was the owner’s choice.
In a new video, a user shows how exactly Apple ships Vision Pro replacement units. The device is packaged in a simple cardboard box with his QR code on the top, from which you can access an Apple support webpage on how to disassemble and reassemble the headset. This is because the replacement unit does not come with speakers or other accessories.
Interestingly, Apple ships replacement units before receiving damaged units from customers, and customers have 10 days to send them to Apple. You can watch the entire video below.
Paid repairs are quite expensive
If your Apple Vision Pro is damaged, it can be quite expensive to replace. Apple charges him $799 to repair the windshield and $2,399 to replace the entire headset. Customers with AppleCare+ plans will pay a one-time fee of $499 for accidental damage, plus $299 for repairs.
