Hollywood police have arrested a suspect in a bank-jagging incident and are searching for the car involved in the crime, where he fled from officers.
Hollywood Police Department announced in a news release Wednesday that 29-year-old Kendrick Jones was arrested on March 26 for multiple traffic violations.
According to the releasers, the surveillance focused on “bank jugging,” in which suspects stake out banks, find people who withdrew cash, follow them, and steal the cash.
Police said officers found Jones sitting in his car in the bank’s parking lot for an extended period of time, watching customers as they entered and exited the bank.
When officers stopped Jones to leave, they found a number of items consistent with “bank jugging” in the car, including a black ski mask, gloves and a window punch.
Police said officers are conducting more sting operations and surveillance at local banks.
They are also searching for a vehicle that may have been involved in a “bunk jug” that fled from officers attempting a traffic stop.
The vehicle is a 2016-2020 dark gray Mercedes GLA 200. Anyone with information is asked to call Hollywood Police at 954-764-4357.
