Once rabies symptoms begin to appear, the disease is almost certainly fatal, which is why anyone who may have been exposed to the virus should get vaccinated immediately.
Early symptoms of rabies are similar to those of the flu, but later symptoms may include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, agitation, anxiety, confusion, hyperactivity, difficulty swallowing, excessive salivation, fear of drinking fluids, hallucinations, insomnia and partial paralysis.
