Indian-born Google engineer becomes US permanent resident after 3,505 days, criticizing H-1B visa | Trending

A Google engineer from India spoke to X about becoming a permanent resident of the United States after being in the country for over nine years. In his thread, he also discussed the shortcomings of his H-1B visa, claiming it was “incredibly restrictive.”

“After 3,505 days in this country, I am finally a ‘permanent resident’. I can travel without constantly worrying about visa stamps, I-94 dates, and a million other things.” tweeted X user Swaroop Ramaswamy.

In the next tweet he posted: “The H-1B visa is incredibly restrictive. It requires a new visa stamp from a U.S. consulate abroad every few years. If you don’t have one, you can’t enter the United States. I’ve never missed a meeting because of this. He went on to list common situations that have proven to be problematic for people on H-1B visas.
