Jake Paul continues on the path he predicts will lead to a world championship, with his next fight against journeyman Ryan Borland on Saturday in Puerto Rico, which will be broadcast on DAZN.
Paul, 27, is 8-1 (5 KOs) and is coming off a first-round knockout win over Andre August in December. He will step into the ring against the most experienced traditional boxer he has ever faced, 35-year-old Borland (17-2, 6 KOs).
“I want to challenge myself,” Paul said this week. “I want tough matches and I need to gain experience on the road to world championship, but he has 19 fights. He is a very skilled and experienced veteran in this sport.”
But it’s unclear how formidable a challenge Borland can present. This will be his first fight since 2022, with his last fight taking place in 2018.
Paul suffered his first loss on February 26, 2023. Since then, he defeated Nate Diaz by unanimous decision in Dallas on August 5th and was knocked out in Orlando on December 15th.
