Jodie Turner-Smith is optimistic about this “exciting” chapter in her life after filing for divorce from Joshua Jackson.
“Sometimes things you really want to do don’t work out, and that’s okay,” the Queen & Slim star, 37, said in an interview with The Sunday Times published on Sunday. “The most important thing is to choose what is healthiest for you, your family, and definitely your children.”
The British model filed for divorce from the 45-year-old “Dawson’s Creek” alum in Los Angeles Superior Court in October, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY. Ms Turner-Smith set the date of the couple’s separation as September 13, 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the application.
Turner-Smith ultimately decided to take action because she believes there are “visible scars from staying in places that are not good for us, and that they have no effect on us.” Not only do we give, but we impact everyone around us.”
“I don’t think it’s a failure,” she said of the divorce. “We obviously had some very beautiful moments together and now a new moment is coming for both of us. And how exciting! What is the bravest thing in the world? It’s about recognizing when things aren’t going well and taking action, and that’s what I always hope to set for my daughter.”
The former couple have a 3-year-old daughter, Juno Jackson. In November, the two agreed to joint physical and legal custody, with the condition that neither would pay child support.
Turner-Smith also revealed that she is in no hurry to rejoin the dating pool. “I’m a single mom and it’s unbelievable,” she said. “It’s a sensitive time and it’s time to focus on your girlfriend. It’s nice not having to focus on the man. Men take up a lot of space!”
In an interview, the “The Independent” actress spoke lovingly about the strength her daughter Juno gave her.
“It’s all really about her,” Turner-Smith said, adding, “Motherhood makes me stronger. Now that I’m a mother, I know I can do so much more.” Thank you for being a mother! It wasn’t just revealed to me. It was obvious to me how powerful I was, but it also became clear that I deserved the world. ”
Jackson and Turner-Smith married in August 2019.

Ms Jackson also said in an interview with the Sunday Times in April that she had “never wanted to get married” before meeting Ms Turner-Smith.
“Partly it’s because of age,” he said of the change in mindset. “I’m old enough to do this. Part of it is finding someone at the right moment in your life.”
He added: “If we had met five years earlier, we probably would have had an intense relationship, but everything else I wasn’t ready for.”
