Kaiju No. 8 Episode 2 aired on Saturday and gave fans more excitement in the form of bloody action and awkward comedy. Although we have received enough comments from viewers on social media that they are disappointed, Kaiju No. 8 So far, I thought they were going to be more gruesome but due to the over-the-top humor, let me tell you one thing, bear with me. This episode also added anime-original scenes and did a great job of setting up some major storylines to come. It was a near-perfect follow-up to the series premiere.
Kafka’s new life begins
Kakufa has already proven to be a great protagonist in two episodes. He is an adult working a dead-end job for his last chance to achieve his dream of fighting monsters alongside Mina. He doesn’t want to be the number one monster slayer, nor does he want to be the head of the Wehrmacht. He has a simple goal and is working hard to achieve it in his last chance. In other words, he has already erased the admirable and admirable qualities that are required of a story’s protagonist.
However, like most shonen anime, the main character gains some kind of strange advantage that others don’t have. This time Kafka transforms into a monster. What I love about this episode is how quickly Kafka realizes who he is now and what is part of him. And to tell you the truth, I almost felt sorry for him.
Imagine you want to be a hero with your best friend in the task of saving people. A position of power where people can smile in peace knowing you are there to protect them. But all of that disappears in the blink of an eye when Kafka realizes that his monster form is intimidating and frightens rather than comforts his people. . It must be heartbreaking to some extent for those who find their dreams quickly ended in a different way. So, not only is he trying to become someone Mina can respect and be proud of, but he also has to navigate some rocky terrain going forward.
The shot above is a picture that can say a thousand words. From now on, Kafka will be seen as a threat and Ichikawa will be a comfort. This shot seems to represent a world where Kafka is protected simply by his appearance, without knowing that he is the “Ole Kafka” that we love in his first two episodes. felt. Even though it’s a comedy, fans can’t deny that this series has done a great job of setting up future Kafka stories.
Just when Kafka gets his last chance to join the defense force, a double-edged sword appears in the form of glowing teal and gray monster armor and abilities. What was already a difficult road for the cheerful and admirable MC has become one full of rubble, blood and determination now that he is wanted. Now, it’s “Kaiju No. 8”.
Kikoru Shinomiya
Despite only being introduced at the end of the episode, Kikoru has already made an impact as the next notable secondary character to be introduced to fans. As someone with a character design that combines twin tails with a typical female tsundere look and a “better than me” attitude, that’s enough for Kikoru, and I think this series is up to par. You’ll think right away. Metaphorically, alas, the naysayers couldn’t be more wrong.
Not only did she confidently appear as a Wehrmacht-ready person, she also lifted and displayed an entire truck with one hand. Yes, the suit helped with that, but she didn’t see it as a cop out. If you are a fan, why not take this opportunity to get a glimpse of this amazing technology? Kaiju No. 8 Implement it. This is where his sci-fi portion of the series becomes so thrilling, and it becomes even more apparent as the story progresses.
And that wasn’t the only hint about Kikoru’s character. She also had her own personal butler. She never said she was better than Kafka, as many tsundere characters tend to do. And she’s already showing off her talent for sniffing out monsters…literally. Kikoru and Mina established a strong female pair in just their two episodes. By doing so, the story will become even more exciting ( black clover).
production
Production of Kaiju No. 8 It continues to leave an impression on me. An anime original scene was added to the second episode, adding depth to the story and making the characters even richer. The moment where Mina talks to the girl after Kafka eliminates the monster and leaves the scene was not present in the manga. But it added the feeling that if Kafka only gave him a chance, he could slowly win the hearts of those around him. It also depicts a little girl distinguishing between good and bad monsters, a scene that even adults may not find so objectionable.
This episode also included a scene in which Kafka destroys a hospital wall. This scene is in the manga, but they could have added it in the anime. a bit Let’s go into a little more detail to emphasize how powerful he is in his Kaiju form. The animation for blowing up the monster in episode 2 was amazing, even though it was noticeably dimmed. The facial expressions matched the manga perfectly, dare I say it. The voice acting of Masaya Fukunishi (Kafka) and Wataru Kato (Ichikawa) made every comedic moment in this episode even better. The chemistry between the two was perfect and it felt like they were truly best friends in real life.
Choosing Kazuya Nomura to storyboard this episode was definitely a surprise. Despite being the director of such an anime, moriarty the patriot and joker gamethis is currently only Nomura’s fourth storyboard since 2020, the other three being single episodes a terrible impostor (Episode 9), delusion of heaven (Episode 3), and Pharmacist’s diary (Episode 23). Perhaps there was a reason for this, as the producer, Yoshihisa Tairashi, was the producer. moriarty the patriot. or, Pharmacist’s diary. It was probably the producer Joji Wada. a terrible impostor. Either way, it was definitely a treat to see him storyboard another amazing episode.
