Duchess Kate’s fans have donated more than £11,000 to a fundraising page after the British domain of Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand was hacked.
The Duchess of Sussex’s new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, is being redirected by people who appear to be fans of the Duchess of Sussex.
The American web link takes you to a website for the Duchess of Cambridge’s business ventures, but the British domain name has been purchased by someone and is linked to a food bank and a message titled “Thoughts of Kate”. There is.
Now, Kate Middleton’s fans have so far donated £11,649 to the Trussell Trust, which works to eliminate the need for food banks in the UK, on the site.
Fans who click on the link ‘americanrivieraochard.uk’ will be redirected to a page asking for donations to a UK-based charity and discover a very poignant message.
The home page says, “Please forgive me.” permission. Please donate to the Trussell Trust. Clicking this will connect you to the Trussell Trust charity’s Just Giving fundraiser.
“This is not Meghan, but I hope she doesn’t mind. Thoughts with Catherine, Princess of Wales and His Majesty the King.” A mysterious message is written on it.
“Please note that purchasing the americanrivieraochard.uk domain name and this justice page is the full extent of this exclusive charity work. Someone is whipping a tea towel!”
The message of support for the Princess of Wales comes after she revealed last month that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy.
As soon as users open the website, they see the cryptic words “forgiveness” and “permission” before inviting people to “donate to the Trussell Trust.”
It seems unlikely that the domain was purchased by Meghan’s representatives, with the donors suggesting that good Samaritans were responsible for purchasing the domain.
The Trussell Trust confirmed to MailOnline that it did not have a web page and was unaware of the existence of the donation site.
Sophie Carre, director of public engagement at the Trussell Trust, said: “The Trussell Trust has dedicated their time and energy to supporting our work to eliminate the need for food banks in the UK. I’m grateful to the people.”
This charity is not affiliated with this website’s domain and has no knowledge of who set it up. ”
So far, the spoof page has raised £56 of its £1,000 target, with one US-based donor writing: . ”
Another added: “Very nice way to draw attention to their great work.”
Earlier this week, Meghan sent 50 jars of jam to some very special people.
Parenting activist Kelly McKee Zadifen, Argentine socialite Delfina Barquier and stylist Tracy Robbins also shared new products on Instagram.
Meghan’s jammies featured the American Riviera Orchard logo and the word “Montecito” written below – the California celebrity enclave where Meghan lives with Prince Harry in a £12 million mansion.
Although it is expected to be a luxury brand, the price list of the new product has not yet been disclosed. It is registered to sell lifestyle products, from recipe books to tableware and textiles, and of course jams and marmalade.
The duchess’ business venture was revealed in a flashy social media video last month, with the new venture set to launch at the same time as a new cooking show on Netflix featuring her.
Sources told the Mail that the business will be a “lifestyle and culinary brand” focused on the things that are important to Meghan.
Another added: “American Riviera Orchard is a lifestyle and culinary brand.” The brand is meant to coincide with the launch of Netflix’s new cooking show.
“Meghan will be making and selling products such as jam, and one day there will be a book, blog, etc.
The new brand will be an extension of her previous lifestyle blog, The Tig, a source told America’s Page Six, adding, “She’s been working on this for over a year and it’s all from her heart. It’s close to that,” he added.
It’s fitting that Duchess Kate’s business revolves around cooking and food, something she’s shown a passion for in the past.
