KATIE Price has given her verdict on this year’s Celebrity Big Brother line-up, which is said to include Duchess Kate’s outspoken uncle Gary Goldsmith.
Katie Price has hit out at the Princess of Wales’ uncle Gary Goldsmith over his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.
Gary is said to be joining the likes of X Factor icon Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, Colson Smith, Levi Roots and Love Island’s Ekin-Su Chulçulol. Katie won the Celebrity Big Brother award in 2015 and didn’t hold back when talking about some of the people who might appear on the show this year. She heard about her candidacy during a conversation with her sister Sophie on her podcast, The Katie Price Show.
Sophie told Katie: “Kate Middleton’s uncle.” [is doing it]”, and Katie wasn’t happy and asked, “Why is he in it, who is he?” and turned to another contestant, Lauren Simon, to which Sophie replied “The Real Housewives of Cheshire “There’s someone out there,” he said. And Katie said indignantly, “Yeah, anyone can be famous now.”
“The CBB team loves him because of his connection with Duchess Kate, how confident and vocal he is and how willing he is to talk about anything, and because of his commitment to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He’s quite frank,” a TV source told The Sun. “Gary also has a deep love for Kate and Wills and could give an interesting insight into what the relationship between the future king and queen is really like.” The source continued: “He has the potential to be television gold and ITV knows that. The contract he has signed is one that will bring in a significant amount of money.”
Gary, 58, an IT recruitment manager, is the younger brother of Carole Middleton, mother of the Princess of Wales. He was an usher at Carole and Michael’s wedding in 1980, and was a guest at his niece Duchess Kate’s wedding to Prince William in 2011. The show, scheduled to air next month on March 4, will be hosted by AJ Odudu and co-host Will Best.
And reports say ITV bosses have spent an eye-watering £2 million locking in a string of high-profile names to make this year’s show one to remember. The show will return on ITV next Monday after being off the air for six years. This comes after the broadcaster brought back Big Brother last year, following in the footsteps of Channel 5, which previously took over from Channel 4.
In previous series of Celebrity Big Brother, Gemma Collins uttered the famous phrase “I’m claustrophobic, Darren”, while the outside world heard 2016 housemate David’s death as David Bowie died. – Concerns grew that a guest had died, and celebrity Chantelle Houghton tricked housemates into believing it. She was a bona fide pop star in her own right.
The series is expected to last approximately three weeks, and we know that episodes will air every day from Sunday to Friday during that time. ITV has also revealed that livestreams will also return, broadcasting seven nights a week.
