Mea CulpaAmerican comedy mogul Tyler Perry’s latest work has been criticized by viewers.
The film is a legal thriller about a criminal defense lawyer (Kelly Rowland) who takes on the defense of an artist (Trevante Rhodes) who is accused of murdering his girlfriend.
The film, written, directed and produced by Perry, began streaming on Netflix earlier this week. With Roland and Rose Mea Culpa Also starring Nick Sager, Sean Sager, Ronreako Lee, Shannon Thornton, and Kelly O’Malley.
The reviews are terrible; Mea Culpa As of this writing, it has a low “Rotten” score of just 17% on the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, with less than a fifth of critics who have seen the film giving it a positive review. It shows that.
In a 2 star review, guardian, critic Benjamin Lee writes: “As you can infer from the plot description, it’s hopelessly stacked, with Perry’s bad actors stumbling through absurd soapy dialogue and needlessly cutting into what should have been more focus on the job.” It’s keeping me busy.”
“It may begin as an erotic thriller, but it gradually decelerates into a humid relationship drama, before meandering towards a climax that hinges on head-scratching developments that make little sense.”
Reaction on social media was less than positive, with many viewers calling the film Perry’s worst work.
Perry’s previous films include: Mad Black Woman’s Diary and the “Madea” series, in which Perry plays an elderly woman in cross-dressing.

“Mea Culpa (2024)…From start to finish, this is quite simply the worst Tyler Perry movie ever,” one person wrote on X/Twitter. “I would go so far as to say that this is probably one of the worst movies I’ve ever endured. There’s no emotion, no tears, no laughter. 120 minutes of nothing.”
“Mea Culpa “This movie was one of the worst movies made in the 21st century,” one person wrote, while another said the movie “might be the worst movie I’ve ever seen in my life.” Some people did.
“Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa “This is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen,” said another. “This movie is terrible. The Tubi original is better. If you’re thinking of seeing this movie, just move on to another movie. Tyler Perry has every resource at his disposal and is putting together garbage. .”
The film is currently available to stream on Netflix.
