Exclusive: This is the first appearance of actor Ravi Patel (Wonder Woman 1984, Animal Patrol) suitable for Queen of Deception’s Kissis a full-fledged crime thriller inspired by the life of con artist Hargobind Tahilramani, who was nicknamed “Hollywood’s Fraud Queen” for impersonating movie executives in elaborate and high-profile fraud schemes.
Director Tom Waller (cave, the last executioner), the picture depicts the story of a Bangkok, Thailand-based actor who is led to believe that a powerful female executive at a Hollywood studio wants to consider him for the lead role in the upcoming DC Origins show. He is lured to Jakarta, Indonesia for an audition, but ends up paying thousands of dollars in cash for flights and permits with the promise of a refund from the studio, all part of an elaborate scam. But after banding together with other victims and identifying the true identity of the criminal mastermind behind the long-running scam, the actor ends up tricking the con artist queen into giving him exactly what he wants: him. would give him the breakthrough role he had falsely promised.
The photo production took place last year in Jakarta, Bangkok, Dublin and Nashville under the SAG-AFTRA Master Agreement just before the strike. The film is a multi-territorial co-production between Thailand (Tero Entertainment PCL), Japan (Yaman Films), Cambodia (Westec Media), the United States (Hawkins FilmWorks) and Ireland (De Warrenne Pictures). Producers are Waller, Michael Pritchett (The Last Executioner), and Takahiro Yamashita (December, Gensan Punch).
De Warren Pictures will hold a screening in Los Angeles for alleged victims of Tahilramani’s fraud before its world premiere in Florida next month.
“More than 300 innocent victims in the film industry were targeted over a seven-year period before the suspect was finally arrested. This wild story is a must-see wake-up call,” Waller said.
De Warrenne is a two-part costume. The Thailand-based company is best known for providing production services for international film shoots, including films starring Jason Statham. Real-life Hollywood fraud queen Hargobind Tahilramani last appeared in a British court in June 2023, when it was ruled that the 43-year-old could be extradited to face charges in the US. Ta. Tahirramani is accused of defrauding more than 300 victims, including actors and screenwriters, out of more than $1 million in a multi-year scheme.
Authorities arrested Tahilramani in late November 2020 in Manchester, northern England. He has been held in a London prison ever since. He is accused of impersonating Hollywood celebrities in phone calls, emails and text messages, including producer Megan Ellison and executive Amy Pascal. Prosecutors say Tahilramani, an Indonesian-born suspect, convinced American industry experts to travel to Indonesia at his own expense for non-existent projects, then charged them large fees and expenses, which he never repaid. It is said that this was never done.
