Players will be getting controllable mechs in Helldivers 2 in a future update, and it looks like they’ll be getting their first look at them in-game.
According to a leaked video spotted on Reddit, Helldivers will be able to hop in and out of mechs during missions to aid in efforts to spread democracy.
It is still unclear when the update will occur. The latest update came through the game’s Discord, where a staff member said the mecha was “ready to go.”
“The mecha was fine for a while, but” they said. “It’s being further honed by people who can’t help with server issues.”
Mechs were some of the first Helldivers, assisting in missions and providing various benefits. There were plans to include them in Helldivers 2, but they never made it into the game at launch. It remains to be seen how they will work in the new game, as opposed to the top-down original. That being said, the video below gives players a slight idea of what to expect.
