LG Electronics is considering plans to integrate Llama, a large-scale language model (LLM) released by Metaplatforms, into its consumer electronics products to enhance on-device artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited LG’s headquarters in Seoul on Wednesday, and was joined by LG Vice Chairman Kwon Bong-seok, LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo-wan, and LG Electronics’ home office. He had a meeting with Park Hyun-se, head of the entertainment department, and others.
Discussions centered on incorporating on-device AI using Llama and developing and manufacturing mixed reality (MR) headsets.
Industry participants are looking forward to expanding the cooperation between the two companies toward AI collaboration.
“We discussed the best way to integrate Llama across more than 500 million devices in total,” said Cho.
The partnership is expected to pave the way for LG Electronics to become an AI service provider, and signals increased competition in the IT and consumer electronics sectors, including competition with Samsung Electronics in smart home AI and augmented reality (XR) devices. are doing.

Samsung Electronics is developing the XR headset with Google LLC and Qualcomm. LG Electronics plans to release an XR headset developed in partnership with Meta Inc. next year.
